Sure, if you aren't doing anything illegal you have nothing to hide, but everyone has their strange sides to them that could be used against them if someone were to find out. Not only that, but taken to the extreme, if you step out of line of their ideal, with that much power over you they could do whatever they want and there is nothing you could do about it. It's the stuff of dytopian novels.
Even if you have nothing to hide, you behave differently when you know someone is constantly watching you. Think about your work or school. When your boss/teacher is watching over you, you don't behave like yourself, you behave more like their ideal. You become more like a person that they want you to be, so you can satisfy them. Now apply that to the government. I'm curious how constant surveillance could affect the growth of a child and their development of a sense of self, but I imagine it can't be good.
