Contrary to what you might think, complexity does not necessarily lend itself well to quality. The entire overarching theme of the game's development, plot, and gameplay is the establishment of something new on top of the a foundation that is simple, reliable, and uncompromising.
Yeah sure they could have put Doomguy on top of a horde or demons with a BFG9000 in one arm ripping the head off of a demon with the other while being pulled to the ground by a horde of demons.
But they didn't need to.
The cover art has four important parts.
1) The man.
2) The gun.
3) The title.
4) The suit.

DOOM 2016 plays really well on PC, they put real effort into the port. It runs great even on toasters, the FOV goes all the way to 130 (which is fucking plenty) and the controls are so fucking nice.
Except they fucked it up with the slight mouse smoothing, but that's easy to fix.
Game gets really hard on the hardest difficulty, ID did a fantastic job at balancing it for old fans as well as new casuals.

I know this is bait and all, but I just played through all four episodes of Ultimate Doom on Ultra Violence and died a total of two times. It was my first time playing it, too (I owned Doom 2 as a kid but never got around to playing the original because it was mail order only at the time). I died far more often in the new game.
