The masts are at the beginning of the area too, that doesn't exactly mean you are looking into that area. But, as I said before, you can't see frontier from the fishing hamlet. You can maybe see fishing hamlet from the frontier though.

Is the dlc good? I've just got Gerhman to go. Plus the chalice dungeons I guess but I'm not suregow they work really. I beat all 3 levels of the first one and don't have enough ritual blood to use more chalices.

Just before going to NG+ make sure to get the materials for the chalices. Red Jelly and the Living Dtring are important, dont remember what else.

I haven't done that yet. I have more chalices but not the materials to perform the ritual. The deepest I've been was 3 but that was easy as fuck as it was the end of the first one.

It's really good.
It's a lot better than the actual game.
Also chalices don't get harder with NG+, so you're free to enter NG+ and you won't lose any chalice progress or have to worry about them getting hard.
