Quake is perfect as it is. I hope now that, Doom sold well despite its shitty multiplayer, we're gonna get a streak of single player mode centered fps games that are much faster paced and are more light-hearted.

The people shouting DOOM IS BACK MASTERPIECE FPS IS SAVED are probably ironically trying to come across as shills to annoy people. Even people that liked D44M's single player admit there are some problems, like RPG elements seeming a bit shoehorned (although the weapon mods actually are well thought out), arenas rather than large numbers of enemies already in the levels, etc. It's still good though.

How are the RPG elements shoehorned? You don't have to fucking do them to beat the entire campaign. If it was shoehorned you would have to upgrade or it would be impossible to beat.
Plus, those elements add replayability and longevity in my opinion. There's really no downside to adding those weapon mods, however Argent upgrades I could do without.

shoehorned wasn't the right word then. I know RPG stuff in DOOM just seems weird to me though and some people seem that they would have preferred it to be without it. I did like the weapon mods like mini missiles to add alt fire modes, that's my jam in FPS.
