I don't mean identifiable as in making the characters the same as the player, but just that certain traits make characters easier to understand and empathise with. They don't have to be player inserts, but they do need to be relatable for the player to care about them. Making them girls when most players are boys will make it hard to understand their character and will cause most players to not care about them or simply see them as objects in the world.

Reminder that all the H-Scenes are post-game content. None of the porn happens in game, and you get it for finishing a route or selecting certain answers. You get access to the scenes in the gallery, not in the story mode.
Going by this, assuming Sekai Project censors the game, they'll just cut the gallery options out. This would be stupidly easy to put back in if you pirate the game, lift the script, and drop it in the JP version. You'd have to get someone to translate the remaining scenes though.

Nope. All routes in Maitetsu end with no porn. After the credits roll, you get a notification that a scene was unlocked. Said porn scenes also are not always "post-game". A lot of them are supposed to happen between scenes in the story mode, while others are a sort of "1 year later" deal.
It's really weird, and I'm not even sure why they would do it like this.
