I've gone through 3fight clubs and always lose when I get to a run r1 katana user because they always roll all the fuck away from me and the only time they get close is to do the running attack then spam r1 if you try to even retaliate.
I need to get Gud at parrying because that shit makes my blood boil.
The Havels sounds even worse though. Is there currently no way around that?

I've never felt my blood boil as much as it does when I come across an estoc fag. Even the fucking animation that people's character does when he spam the R1. Pisses me the fuck off instantly. On topic: Estoc isn't even that difficult since you can parry. The annoying shit right now is BK Halberd. You can abuse the 2-hit stagger window by doing R1 + L2 (long combo), dealing 90-100% of your HP in damage and there is nothing you can do about it.
The weapon also has phantom-range out the ass.

This was also the best build in DaS2 because LOLNOPOISE.
You can say it had poise, but a 1H Estoc poke broke almost anything and 2 hits did break anything.
Saying that poise working at a level near Dark Souls 1 would break the game is nonsense. It could easily be tweaked to Poise through small weapon classes while larger weapon classes (especially while 2H) could poisebreak through shit.
And backstabs are severely nerfed from 1.
There's even a Ring that shits on BS damage.

I have never ever lost to an Estoc or any rapier user. You might get hit once or twice, then get out of there. Be sure to be slightly out of range when they start spamming R1 and once they are close enough to hit you, parry.
