I really enjoyed the gameplay despite despite the weeb element. I was slightly disgusted by its complete romanticization of war and removing most any element of the brutalness of war. It was still a good time though if you look past it.

It really depends on how you define weeb games, if you define them as "overly anime with a lot of cute girls doing cute things with fan service replacing any semblance of plot" then you should give it a chance. If you think anything from Japan is a "weeb game" then don't give it a chance.
The game is anime-ish, and it has some of the tropes, but it is a genuine experience. Its an SRPG, so it IS story heavy. Its not super serious, but its also not a complete mess of people just yelling "kawaii" or some shit. Its a pretty fun game, think of it like a much easier, and simple X-Com with a World War 2 type storyline in well, anime style.
I personally fucking HATE games like Neptunia and shit, but I do enjoy JRPGs, I draw certain lines at where something becomes "Weeby" or not. So take that for what you will.

Holy shit, are you me? It feels like the vast majority of JRPGs are shifting over to pander to the same demographic that buys Nepshit and the ones that don't just die out. Disgaea has always been hovering over the line but now I'm pretty worried for it.

Story and characters are not bad but are absolutely weeb as shit, and between the pig mascot, the beach scene and the whole preachy jew stuff it was probably in the top five most embarrassing jrpgs I've ever played and I've played tons.
Its a good game with pretty unique gameplay, though.

It suffered a bit from a cutesy narrative, though Rosie & Company hating the Jews was fucking hilarious. Her heel-turn to suddenly caring about them when one of them gets shot was kind of stupid.
It also kind of bugs me that nobody ever tells the reporter girl to go look at the mountains of dead Imperials stacked like cordwood after each battle. You kill fucking hundreds of people during that game, most of whom are probably just conscripts like your own characters. There's a real moral blind-spot when it comes to butchering gorillions of enemy grunts and never taking anyone prisoner.

Its kind of the typical shitshow youd expect from a japanese story. The story sucks ass but some characters are pretty cool. The main character is autistic but still really likeable because of that. Of course theres dumb anime bullshit like a pig with wings and a magic girl exploding and turning the war around with that but its a very unique gameplay system, the setting is nice, and the graphics and music compliment it well, looks like a painting. At $30 for that sweet steel case, Id say its worth trying.

Bought this already for PS3 and PC. Done pretty much everything on PS3 and it would most likely be my one and only platinum, if game had trophies
Its lots of fun but its challenging and sometimes it will take you forever to finish a single mission or on worse occasions a single turn. Its fun if you can handle keeping cool after spending an hour then losing near the end to only restart the whole mission. -_-

Yeah it has cutscenes, but you can skip them. PC version goes on sale all the time for $5, but as a shill I have to say get the PS4 version to show support. Plus, it's a way to justify your purchase of your Bloodborne machine.

VC3 is pretty good. The maps are smaller than in VC1, but it's otherwise an improvement.
