I've talked to probably 10 people who have had performance problems with D44M.
I use a 970 meme card and have zero problems on 1080p, getting over 75fps with no major hiccups.
I've come to the conclusion that anything below the 970 is just bad for the game. Something about the architecture or some shit.
I have another friend that uses a 960 like you and he couldn't play the game until he reduced it to 720p.
Also, you better have an i5 at least and 16gb of ram. 16 gb is essentially a must at this point.

Halo was a masterpiece of gaming that has gone down some shitty fucking paths. While halo 3 wasn't as good as 2 in terms of story it was the pinnacle of gaming. It's all been downhill since son. Honestly comparing anything to it is fucking stupid, it amazes me how quickly fuckers forget their history. regardless of it being bad you still got all the achievements and I know for a fact you didn't sit with a fucking frown on your face when you did. Personally the only thing that came close to matching halo was call of duty but they went off on a much safer premise.

I could go on and on about countless reasons the Halo 3 campaign was and still is underwhelming. The enemy variety for instance is terrible coming off of Halo 2 and into Halo 3.
I counted. Halo 3 has 4 (FOUR) hunter pairs in the entire game. On legendary.
Half the Halo CE levels have more pairs than that.
Then there's the reduced FOV from Halo 2.
The abysmal shot registration.
The rampant boosting scene.
Vehicle health being tied to shield health.
3 FUCKING FLOOD LEVELS.
Less maps on disc than Halo 1 or 2 had at launch.
All DLC not made free like in Halo 2.
Forge being useless on disc because to this day, Sandbox is STILL siting behind a paywall.
The list goes on and on.
Halo 3 is not the worst game in the series. But it is by far the most overrated.
