Stay assblasted. HR was amazing.
>>
This doesn't even help them because in the end all it's going to push away are players that enjoyed the series in the past but don't want to get burned by watered-down "accessible" trash.

Like when that demo of the Sarif Manufacturing Plant got "leaked" a couple weeks before release and 180'd /v/'s opinion on the game completely. Some 15 year old kid isn't interested in the first place, he's getting whatever the newest Call of Duty is.

The people that are already set on buying it are set, and all the overzealous DRM does is thwart away potential buyers. I can say for myself that I pirated Human Revolution at first but then bought it because I enjoyed it so much.

Human Revolution is incredibly content-dense, compared to Skyrim that plops copy-pasted dungeons of shit over a massive plain.
The setting is nothing alike.
The sound direction is nothing alike.
The story or themes are nothing alike.
Eidos Montreal is actually a decent developer, Bethesda is utter trash.

Aw shucks

How will the pirates cope?
You're telling me this casual facilitating, triple A and delayed, modern era shit where you are even MORE OVERPOWERED than the last game isn't going to be able to be pirated?
How will people be able to tell if it is shit or not without first trying it out?

Maybe I'll "augment my pre-order" because that was a sign of quality.
How about all the stunning originality in the story hmmm?
Black guy with one fucked up leg named "Elias".
A Quadroon woman named "Alex" you meet after exiting a train.
The train depot shows a dreary city under what appears to be an oppressive regime of faceless MPs.
You get knocked out shortly after.
You go to a city with a big honking spire in the middle.
You take a long ass elevator to the top.
You have a discussion with a guy at sunset even.

Shame those dirty dirty pirates are going to miss out.

>>
>>338126513
A whole different team
Just to put them into comparison:

>Thief team plays the original game on Gamespot and constantly shit on it saying it doesn't work, the thing sucks and it forces you to stealth even though that's the point of the game.

>Deus Ex team invites Warren Spector, Sheldon Pacotti and Chris Norden to the studio to play the original Deus Ex. Followes an insighful commentary on the game for an Hour and the thing is fucking comfy to watch even if it's blatant marketing for the soon to be announced game.
>>
>>338131350
Lel. Every game has a newer version of denuvo. And each one of them will take considerably longer times to crack.
>>
>>338131608
T4FFER had many problems in development, the original team put on the project gradually gave up and left as they were forced to make concessions for modern audiences.
It just ended up being made by a pack of wankers who didn't love Dark Project or Metal Age, the result showed.

The people who created Denuvo were literally the crack groups that crack most games these days. The reason it hasn't been cracked yet is because all the people who have the knowhow to do so are being bankrolled by the DRM industry.

It's more like a gauge on how long you will expect Denuvo games to be cracked.

>b...but crackers just aren't going for lower popularity games

So you're gonna start seeing massive gaps in game cracking. Who's to say that a game you really want to play won't be deemed worthy enough to crack in the future.

So far there's several games that haven't been cracked despite being out for months. One major cracking group has given up after it became too hard. The future is bleak for Piratefags. Enjoy having to play less games, and actually pay the developers for their hard work.
>>
Is Denuvo the ultimate augmentation?
>>
>>338136995
i'll just wait for sales then kek

i always did that anyway if i liked the game so i'll just borrow them if i really wanna play them i guess

hope the effort that went into denuvo was worth it, even if it doesn't get cracked - and it allegedly already has - it changes basically nothing for the majority of pirates

>>
>>338136995
You mean pay the publishers for their advertising budget.
The developers get paid to make that AAA shite, they don't see a dime from the sales 90% of the time, aside from a few select studio heads, such as Toddy, Randy and those type of ass clowns.
Good sales means the actual working developers may be hired again to make the same game again for the yearly installment.
No demos, no piracy, no posting of negative reviews, no preview copies for review, no accountability or repercussions for broken unplayable releases, that's the AAA publisher's wet dream, it's getting closer every year.
They've already got consumers bug testing the games and paying for the privilege, they're already selling parts of games they held back for extra, they've got consumers paying for extras that may or may not ever happen, they've got unpaid delusional kids advertising their wares for them, it's a great time for the big boys and it just keeps getting better.

>>

>>
>>338137694
Still need to know someone who bought it. Your friend might buy it because he couldn't pirate it.

Anecdotes are not how game sales work. If 5% of would be pirates are converted, spending a quarter of a million dollars to prevent piracy would be worth it the cost.
>>
>>338124498
Man I even considered getting MD if SE got their shit together with Hitman.
Turns out Elusives are underwhelming at the least and extremely disappointing at most, the always online AND Denuvo are dragging performance into the ground and don't account for anything improving the experience and now rumour has it that Marrakesh will be delayed to late June. Seriously, fuck them.
I will get MD when it's cracked and I will not give SE one more of my shekels.

>>
>>338137891
there's always some sucker that buys it, always has been

and denuvo's only gonna be around for some time

after which it'll be back to normal
>>
>>338125123
Yeah, those half-assed stealth mechanics, those ''press B near enemy to win'' that basically made you invincible, all those overpowered perks that made things a triviality, those shooty shooty bosses, that mouse smoothing and that Mass Effect 3 ending where the only thing that matters is the final choice were GOAT.
>>
>>338132124
But they don't.
In fact, MGSV is the most selling Denuvo game and it hasn't reached 1 million, while games like Dying Light, Terraria or The Witcher 3 destroyed the 1 million barrier.
Not that you can blame Denuvo, considering a lot of it's games were some of the worst PC ports made in years.
>>
>>338138984
The fact that you list 3 games as proof that piracy doesn't effect sales just shows your lack of any sort of understanding or knowledge when it comes to statistics.

The different publishers, with their own groups of people who have the resources, say otherwise.

It's like how climate scientists say global warming is real, using massive amounts of data they collect from satellites and other methods. But then someone will read the newspaper articles talking about record snowfall and point out global warming isn't real.
>>
>>338139221
I list the highest selling Denuvo game.
Not even a million.
In fact, Far Cry Primal uses Denuvo and it's, by far, the worst selling Far Cry of the franchise.
Even less than Far Cry 1.
>>
>>338139221
Thats a pretty bad analogy
>>
>>338139279
Once again, you still don't understand how statistics work.

>>338139317
It's actually a perfect analogy. Someone with no education uses very few data sets to prove a theory that goes against what independent groups of highly educated people with large amounts of data agree on.
>>
>>338139453
You are not, you are saying that Denuvo is used because it sells more, while it's a fact that Denuvo games either sell the average PC game sales, or underperform.
Like Far Cry Primal, that sold 150k copies against 670k from Far Cry 4.
>>
>>338139532
Once again you are only regurgitating the same thing and proving over and over you don't even have a basic understanding of how anti piracy increases sales.

If the Witcher 3 had denuvo, it would have sold more.

If Just Cause 3 didn't have denuvo, it would have sold less.

Just Cause 3 wasn't as good of a game as the Witcher 3, so it didn't sell as much.

Your comparison of pointing two games and saying that denuvo doesn't work is identical to walking outside when it's raining and saying global warming isn't real.
>>
>>338139946
Exactly, quality is what makes PC games sell, not DRMs.

>If the Witcher 3 had denuvo, it would have sold more.
>If Just Cause 3 didn't have denuvo, it would have sold less.

But you have no proof.
All you have are the numbers of copies sold, which are completely average.
>>
>>338140118
I don't have proof global warming is real, but I can point out that climate scientists say it's real.

I don't have proof that piracy reduces sales, but i can point out that game developers are hopping on the Denuvo train and spending millions for it.
>>
>>338140241
>i can point out that game developers are hopping on the Denuvo train and spending millions for it.
And I can point out at the sales of those games and see the same numbers we've seen in the last years, sometimes even much lower, like with Far Cry Primal.
>>
>>338140312
OK, show me a statistical analysis of all games published in the last several years with their metacritic score, torrent popularity, time cracks were released, pricing levels, sales per day, and from all that data give me a baseline average percentage of how piracy affects sales (positive or negative).

Because I'm sure thats what publishers pay people for, and more, and have independently concluded that dropping millions on drm is worth it.
>>
>>338140535
We go back to the ''piracy affects sales'' argument?

See, this is why your analogy sucks.
A better analogy would be company sponsored sudies that find that herbicides, pesticides and other shit they put on plants does not cause harm.
If a company sponsors studies that says that their business practice is a-ok I am inclined to not believe them.
By your logic you should rather believe a company sponsored study that says climate change is bullshit and they needn't cut their emissions.

I want so see a study on piracy that is NOT paid for by the companies, where we can have at least some degree of objectivity. And then we can talk.

Who cares? The reason Denuvo hasn't been cracked yet is because nobody is going to bother putting the effort in, since there hasn't been a single good game with Denuvo and I doubt there ever will be. If a halfway decent one ever does come out, it'll get cracked in days and there's nothing you moralfags can do about it except sit there and QQ like always.

Fucking dropped.

Movies and music aren't games. And the article that did mention software was a super unknown piece of software, not a well known AAA game.

>>338140826
Except the company isn't trying to sell anti piracy software, they're trying to determine if investing resources internally are worth it.

>THE article
There's more than one link.
>>
>>338141126
How many articles were there where someone sold a single app and noticed their sales increased?

We already use sunglasses.

I have it preordered but Denuvo is fucking shit.

Enjoy the perf loss.
>>
Has there ever been a game with as great a pre order package as DXMD? You get so much free shit.
>>
>>338140967
Some Denuvo games have been cracked, it just takes a couple months.
>>

That still doesn't change the fact that company sponsored studies are biased.
And as long as there are no independent studies, I must assume that the companies are lying to me. That is just common sense.
>>
>>338141545
Companies fund these studies to prove that they're the best. The objectivity of studies is what lends credibility. They wouldn't fund the studies if they weren't objective.
>>
>>338141545
So you're saying that companies are lying to themselves? Because denuvo is expensive as fuck. If companies thought drm harmed sales, or didnt effect them, they they wouldn't spend huge amounts of money.
>>
>>338141545
I'm not the anon you are arguing with but you are full of shit.
>I don't have proof and yours isn't valid because le spooky corporate boogeyman I'm actually defending.

People who pirate games, will not buy them.
>>
I dunno. I liked the first one a lot but the pacing was way off. I want to play this but have no hype. It might be a wait until it's half price jobby.

Same for Doom and Uncharted 4 really. Games these days aren't blowing me away to the point where I want to go out now and buy them.

Help me make up my mind with the new game

Yeah, because bad exec decisions are a thing completely unheard of.
And the only thing that would harm sales at this point was if a game did something that would piss off the target audience, like being too hard or too "unaccessible".
And even then you would have enough idiots buying shit day one.

>And the only thing that would harm sales at this point was if a game did something that would piss off the target audience
Like Denuvo?
>>
>>338141995
>hard
>pacifist

>no alarms
The only way to play
>>
>>338142189
So what are you saying, that developers should remove all anti piracy software?
>>
>>338142189
Strange how the execs at multiple different companies that have grown to massive, multi billion dollar, cooperations all have chosen to keep implementing drm for decades.

It's almost as if they've done internal studies that show drm increases sales, so much so that spending millions on the latest drm (denuvo) is actually worth the cosr.
>>
>>338142304
European extreme mode is shit. You should adapt when spotted.
>>
>>338142368
More like, they've done internal studies that show advertisement increases sales.

>got a 980ti
>pirated 52 games in the last 6 months
>still going to pay 120€ for the limited edition
>will play it on day one

Deus Ex is pretty much the only game I'm not willing to wait 6 months to play

Cry more OP
>>
>>338142973
So a company could have spent the money on advertising to increase sales, but instead spent it on drm.

Seems to prove the point more and more that effective drm = increased sales
>>
>>338143450
There are many game I would have pirated if they didn't have Denuvo. There are many games I spent money on because I couldn't pirate them (mostly console exclusives). I would pirate Deus Ex too, but now I'm forced to buy it
I know it's wrong and everything, but I don't give a shit and there are too many fucking people like me

That's why Denuvo is still used
