Why did demons souls get good reviews and become popular ? It wasn't really that different from other From games and those always got mediocre scores from mainstream retard reviewers. What caused normies to decide that souls games were good ?
It was advertised as hard? I guess? Armored Core and things just so happened to have a difficulty curve, they never actually advertised them as hard.

I first heard of Demons Souls because of /v/ seeing as how a lot of people were porting it from japan
then when it was released here i grabbed a copy and fell in love.

It did some really unique things at the time, and everything about the online was pretty fucking cool. While playing, you could be invaded by some random dude who would then fight you to the death. You were also able to do that to other people. That alone was enough to sell me on it, but then you also had the ability to summon other people for co-op. The hint system was a lot of fun too. It was this unique online game where you never overtly communicated with the other players.

I think a lot of it had to do with word of mouth. The box art for DeS didn't have anything like "Prepare to Die" on it (At least in the US), and I can't recall any advertisements touting the series' difficulty until DaS came along. Popularity kind of got around through internet communities, and and it sort of snowballed from there. Now the series is more or less AAA. Kinda crazy to think about, because even back when DeS came out, it was pretty tough for a niche game to break out like that and become a huge series.

Why have no other games to this day copied the co-op and pvp systems from the Souls series?
As far as I know, no action game has even done anything like the pvp battle arena from Dark Souls 1 (Prepare to Die) and 2.
