There is also the issue of there being more than one Mega Man, and they look quite different from each other.
Most of the 80s kids grew up with classic Mega Man.
Most of the 90s kids grew up with X.
Most of the 00s kids may or may not have grown up with Battle Network.
Legends was a niche series, and is probably the least popular of all the Mega Men.
The franchise started to peter out around Star Force, so who knows if the common man recognizes Geo Stelar & Omega-Xis.
