First of all, there will and ALWAYS will be people much fucking worse than you, no matter how bad you are. This quickly turns into a curse.
Secondly, there's really just not that much to it. Slightly more complex skill than LoL, some basic mechanics like denying and just more depth in most areas of gameplay.

As a TF2 Medic main... I completely agree with you. Fuck shitty teammates - especially the medics! I'd rather have a bunch of crappy snipers and spies than a medic who literally shoves his medigun up the ass of the nearest full health heavy and ignores the rest of his team who are on 30HP or less.
HOWEVER! A competent healer can turn the tide of battle when everyone pulls their weight. Balance heals, utilize crit-heals, count ubers, know when to push (and when to fall back) and when to use uber and suddenly you can go from dick sucking faggot to MVP.
On top of that Medics have a decent damage output - maybe not enough to 1v1 a soldier but certainly enough to give you a fighting chance against a demo, pyro, scout or spy. Mercy's simply a bitch when it comes to that - rellying on her ult to save her. Zenyatta on the other hand...
