I know this article's from 2012. It's almost sad watching them trying to hold on for dear life though. It's too late for this gen. Nintendo should've done that instead of coming out with the Wii U. Now anyone who would play console games has already bought one, or isn't willing to pay $400+ for one. They would be pitting a system with no library up against two consoles that will have $100 price drops by 2017.

While the Wii was a huge success, its weak hardware showed signs of Nintendo's stronger attention to gimmicks instead of content, and the Wii U is a less successful example of that. Expect the NX to further this trend and put another nail in Nintendo's coffin.
I used to be a huge Nintendo bitch, but I don't really play video games anymore, so I don't have a bias. It's kind of sad that Nintendo won't be able to keep up with its competitors much longer, but at least they'll be remembered for having a bigger impact on gaming than any other company.

They seem more hell bent on reinventing the wheel rather than just giving me a regular console and a controller to play games on. And I think that's what everyone wants.
I think most people who WOULD have bought a Wii-U are nostalgia fans in the 30's who get home from hard days work and don't wanna be bothered using forced gimmicks to play their games. That's at least how I feel. It's the main reason I bought a PS4.
