Is this the worst Rockstar game?
>>
>>338095051
You know it wasn't developed by rockstar right? They just published it.
>>
>>338095289
it was pretty much rockstar by the end, they over-ruled a whole bunch of decision
>>
>>338095289
this. stop being 12 op
>>
I thought it was great. Not a whole lot of actual mystery games nowadays
>>
>>338095393
there was also plans to make team bondi into "rockstar sydney"

and in the end the whole game started to feel like GTA
>>
I'd love to see a sequel. i think a second go at this style would come out as absolute perfection.

>no X-Files game that plays like LA Noire
>>
>>338095051
No the table tennis one for 360 which was just a tech demo for their new engine
>>
Perfect example of "muh open world" ruining a game

>>

I worked at Team Bondi for a little while and R* fucking hated them. It stopped being a PS3 exclusive after Sony invested millions and millions over the first 4 years and got nothing but a tech demo in the end, so they dropped it. R* picked it up thinking it had potential, but the gross incompetency of McNamara and the lead designer (can't recall his name) and the Soho untouchables bit them on the arse.

Years late and millions over budget, and an empty overworld empty from the rigid bounds of playing as a cop with a partner. I think by the end the pedestrians even lept out of your way, right? I never played it after I left.

It should have scrapped the overworld and put all its effort into being a mystery detective adventure game, going from location to location.

By the end R* seized the IP and gave all the sidequests to Leeds in order to keep funding it. They abandoned all plans to continue with Bondi afterwards and they immediately folded. Last I heard some of them were absorbed into George Miller's CG/games company working on a Mad Max game, but clearly that never eventuated.

>tfw Whore of the Orient looks is in development hell

We're missing out on what would essentially have been an LA Noire sequel, as well as a chance to explore a new and interesting locale. Fucking bullshit.
>>
>that direction they went with the Black Dahlia case

Why did they even do that? Just make up their own case that's similar. It's just fucking disrespecting the original case with what they did.
>>
>>338096123
Better. LA Noire set in 1960's-1970's San Francisco. Dealing with a liberal police-hating population and social upheaval in addition to urban guerrillas and psychos like the Zodiac killer. Either this is an excellent idea, or I've watched Bullitt and Dirty Harry one too many times.
>>
>>338095051
>>
>>338097060
Oh shit I forgot about this. That x-play episode was pretty cash
>>
LA Noire is a top tier 90/100 game

State of Emergency is objectively Rockstar's worst game. Their table tennis game was a good table tennis game at least
>>
their worst is literally gta 4 or gta advance. la noire is my fav rockstar game and my 2nd fav game of all time. I went in blind nd I loved it

whore of the orient wouldn't have been any good without rockstar anyway and I knew it wouldn't get finished from the minute I first saw it. like Shenmue 3

if they make a la noire sequel it has to be from rockstar not that mcnamara cunt. he is incompetent

>the Zodiac killer

This is what I was going for. Really liked the black dahlia investigation in la noire
>>
>>338097060
But this was just a tech demo for the RAGE engine. pretty impressive but not fun
>>

>1960s-1970s

Calm down there turbo nerd.

I'm actually playing through this right now for the first time.

It drags on in certain parts, I can see why people might dislike the open world. But the amount of detailed interiors is pretty awesome.

The face recognition is really great despite every girl looking like trash.

Top tier atmosphere. Love that late 40's feel and look.

The chase parts are easily my favorite parts, and I love the look of these old school cars.

How far in are you? Because the game goes into free fall after the Vice desk. Hell it's been 5 years and I'm still mad
>>
What if they merge the concept with GTA?
>Liberty City Noire
>playing as a crooked cop in a slightly more down-to-earth version of LC, taking down certain criminals and working with others to achieve your own goals
Basically shift from historical fiction to full-on fiction and make the action sequences suck less.

I particularly enjoyed it because I'm heavily into the post-WWII era history and its impact on modern society. However, its gameplay is certainly nothing to write home about. Repetitive shoot-outs, car chases, and Q&A sessions with POIs makes for a rather dull game with a rather fascinating setting.

I still have my copy, but I think it's more for the "Noir" aspect of it all.
>>
>>338099536
Shit dude I haven't though about deja vu in nearly two decades
>>
>>338101631
That game has really stuck with me for a long time. Might be why I was so disappointed with LA Noire.

is this game worth playing in 2016 if i like mystery/detective games?

for that matter, what are some good mystery detective games to play in general? I like the Sherlock Holmes game that came out in 2014 or whatever, and I played vs Jack the Ripper though it wasn't that great. Anyone have any recommendations?
>>
>>338095051
Thats not GTAV
>>
>>338095051
Not when Red Dead Redemption exists.

>>
Tell me anon, what other game lets you fondle naked corpses with as much realistic physics?
>>
>>338095051
It was a comfy game. Kind of like Mafia 2, in which the town was more of a backdrop for the story.
>>
>>338102882
>what are some good mystery detective games to play in general?

All that comes to mind is heavy rain, murdered: soul suspect etc.

I haven't actually played either myself, just going off what I've heard. I'm just as curious if they're any good
>>
That was Bondi, and I really liked LA Noire. It's somewhat of a niche game for people who like mysteries and whatnot. R*'s worst game is probably table tennis.
>>
>>338105329
Only game I can compare t b h. Though I'm still mad as fuck about the PC bug that made the last chapter unplayable
>>
>>338096175

Don't know much about Team Bondi but any studio that fucked up hard a game with so much potential deserves to fold.
>>
>>338095706
but you can see up the girls skirts in that game so how can it be bad
>>
>>338105670
heavy rain is one of those movie-games where there's really not that much game play. although there are a shit load of endings. its not bad but i wouldnt pay more than 20 bucks for it.
>>
I've tried like 3 times to start up and play through this game but I just get so burnt out by 3 or 4 cases in, and the stuff like [X] DOUBT is so awful and vague and hard to tell what cole is actually going to say. Or when you're supposed to be looking at their face to judge their expression but it doesn't look like the kind of face any human would actually make

>>

Kill yourself my man
>>
>>338095051
It was a great experience but lacked a lot of things as a proper game. If you're gonna have an open world at least let us go bowling with cousin Roman or have a jazz dancing mini-game or anything really. The beautiful open world has so much to see and nothing to do.

7/10.

Every game that wasn't gta from rockstar was pretty much a restrictive version of gta. A water downed gta pretty much.

With exception to maybe RDR.
>>
>>338099605
I'm really surprised rockstar hasn't gone down the playable crooked cop path yet
