I'm the same. Tried getting into Resident evil. Revelations seemed like a great game, and I did get pretty far on number 4. But I'm pretty bad at them and didn't like the controls.

things i don't like is how hard it is to gauge positioning, and zombie evasion. i'm really bad at judging distances in RE 1-3 and the game has severe penalties upon death, you have to go through motions frequently taking more than 15 minutes until you get to the point where you're still unsure in yourself and the mechanics, it's a painstaking process. the only mechanics i'm certain i think it's bad is the inventory management system in the original game, way too befuddled and in a sense pure example of padding.

i can't seem to get a grasp at core gameplay mechanics reliably and that's what ultimately made the games not fun at all.

i don't like chibi aesthetics but that's a minor gripe. what i disliked about fft and tactics ogre and basically matsuno games is the overreliance on certain, well, superpowers characters have. the tactics are over reliant on hard counters and epic skills that start to negate positioning and overall gameplay soon feels diluted when compared to seemingly simplistic stuff like fire emblem. that and the pacing is way off. in fact i don't even respect gameplay model in those games.

I hate GS but Dorf fort isn't really hard and it's reasonably fast paced once you learn designations. I put 2hours effort into watching the videos on yt and playing alongside them and it's easy to get a grip. I hate everything Paradox does because of their model for passing of time and endless padding in form of genealogies and the like. Zero depth.
