Doomguy is the hell's boogieman. From what I have in the logs so far, it looks like he was ripping and tearing through hell until all the forces of hell managed to seal him up. They used heavy duty powers and runes to seal him up and keep him asleep for all time.

Then humanity went and fucked up by waking him up... which was a good thing for humanity.

Basically Doomguy is their 'An ancient evil was sealed away".
