The environments are BIG. But they are also really fucking empty outside of a few stragglers of zombies and item collection which is FUCKING BORING. Because not one enemy positioning is even clever as the worst Doom 2 maps.
Tying most of the combat with doom guy getting stuck in arenas was pretty fucking stupid too. Even Doom 3 had better firefights and monster positioning.

Mostly disagree. I feel the space is used adequately for the most part. Enemy positioning, however, felt pretty smart and aggressive even on lower diffculties like ultra violence.

The flow of the game felt extremely close to the originals. Complete with branching paths into small hubs filled with enemies that spawn in until "cleared". Fuck off.

What I love is how drastically they changed. It wasn't just "I think this game will be bad. Oh hey, it's pretty good", it was "DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. I like all the Doom games I've played so far. Doom 1, 2, 3 and Doom 2016 are all super fun to me. They don't all provide the same experience, but I'm okay with that because I don't want every single game to be exactly the same.
