WHAT THE FUCK, NINTENDO?!!
>>338073105
Isn't that how most RNG works?
>>338073105
How do you know if this is fucking true or not you sperg
>>338073896
Save states.
dice rolls are usually random
DYKG thread?
>>338073185
It depends what you mean.
To put it simply, most games generate an infinitely long list of numbers, and every time the game calls a random function (such as a dice roll, attack damage, or opening a chest) the next number in the list is grabbed. The result seems random but is susceptible to manipulation.
Reminder the Mario Party games fucking suck and if you unironically believe they're good you're a blind nostalgiafag.
>>338075470
Me too!
>>338073105
Isn't that only true in the first two Mario Parties? I remember using save states in the third game and getting different results each time, but the first two it'd always be the same unless you saved and quit.
I remember getting different rolls with save states.
Might be just foggy memory though.
>>338073185
Yeah. It's the same in the GBA Fire Emblem games as well.
Tried to savescum past a shitty level up and that's how I learned.
>>338073105
>game starts
>save state
>roll number
>load state
>roll different number
Explain this. I've played Mario party on emu and loaded states in order to go first.
>>338073105
Dokapon Kingdom has all your spins predetermined from the start of the game.
>>338073105
I've actually played a TBS game that did RNG like that. It was retarded.

It's a terrible game and I hate it.

This game is legit bullshit
Still fun tho
>>338075470
They were good up to 5, great party games for when your group got tired of board games and still loved to this day.
Neo Mario party is just unreedemable garbage that, much like Nintendo, has no clue what made it great in the first place

Yeah, no shit.
>>338077910
You can manipulate and advance the RNG seed to the next value pretty easily though.
>>338084959
I've never understood the "lol Mario Party is just completely random" thing. The most random and game-changing thing that can happen is chance time, and that's super rare.
Sure it's luck based sometimes, but it still takes skill trying to win the mini-games and figuring out how to get the most stars.
>>338082554
It'll just loop back to the start of the table it generated at the beginning of the game.
Lots of games do this, actually. There's no way for computers to generate randomness internally, so it usually comes back to some arbitrarily long table of numbers generated from atmosphere interference beforehand that the game selects a range from on startup based on cycle count or something absurdly specific.

>affect
You people sicken me sometimes.
>>338078641
I hate this game, it´s tons of fun though with some friends and some booze.
>>338085430
>>338085430
I never really understood it either.
If you can constantly win mini-games your odds of winning are going to be much higher, as you can basically guarantee 1-2 bonus stars, and the extra coins (or lack there of for your opponents) makes it way easier for you to get stars on the map.
of course its still a game with random elements, and even your best playing can be fucked over. I'd still argue a good player is going to beat a bad one.
>>338085430
Yeah, exactly, I hear you.
This only applies to the first Mario Party game. It's randomly decided as the block is hit in future titles.
>>338086798
Oh shit, I forgot about hidden blocks.
Couldn't you turn them off though?
>>338074521
>random
Most people use the word "random" in an abstract way, when all it means, is that the outcome is unknown, or the cause of the outcome isnt known.
The outcome was going to be the same outcome no matter what.
But on topic, unless there is a certain version of mario party that did this, or the timing has to be perfect, this isnt true, the decision for what number you gain is determined at a different point.

At least Mario Kart isn't predictable. The only thing seeding RNG in Dokapon Kingdom is player moves, so by making predictable moves you can manipulate the entire game.

I've seen things
horrible dokapon things......
I want to make a sequel

I know right? What kind of wacky tobacky were they smoking when they came up with this shit?
Mario Party, more like, shessh. Shit. More like shit.
