Get Estoc and R1 to victory

That does not work against BKGA or Gundyr Halbards.

Play a fighting game. I know this is veddit but good god OP please don't think Souls requires skill. They're even worse than Smashfags
>>
What SL is ideal to be in the Aldrich Faithful? I forgot about them until endgame and want to get their rewards before moving onto NG+ but I'm SL90 now and it takes about 5 minutes a summon
>>
Estoc is not a free win. I tried, i cannot stun lock them forever.

Get spiked mace and spin to win
>>
>>338070450
Get Dark Sword or any straight sword and phantom range niggas.
>>
>>338071479
Estoc isn't good because it stunlocks forever, it's good because of the ridiculous speed and range it has.
>>
>>338071452
I think 90 is too high for players still in NG. I'd stay at around 60.

you can swing an estoc 11 times in a row with 40 end. i get 4 swings with my ugs, and it doesnt even do 150 more ar.
>>
Against estoc, they sometimes get away ans escape stunlock. They would spam parry, and its over. Takes more skills than just spam R1.
>>
>>338070915
>I refuse to use the most populated area for pvp because some of those anonymous people might be from Reddit!!!
>>
If you're a spammer there's a 2-hit rule. Meaning your opponent has just enough time to perform an action after the second hit. Skilled players will typically use this to parry you. Just do two hits and immediately start strafing for a backstab. More often than not they'll go for the parry expecting the third swing which gives you just enough time to get behind them before they can recover. Also hornet ring. You can usually only pull this off once before they wisen up so use it wisely.
>>
>>338073506
Now this is a legit strat. Thanks, this is like learning zoning and footies in 3D space.
>>
If you're using a heavy weapon learn to bait people. Let them chase you and let them be the aggressor and slam that fucker. Anything else you can be as agressive as you like just dont fall for bait. Also learn to parry I recommend the caestus for that.
>>
How do you deal with hyper armors?
>>
>>338074961
Using or against?
>>
>>338074961
Without POISE heavy weapons even with hyper armor are unusable. Estoc or Dark Sword R1 infinite stun is the way! I don't PvP btw I just summon my dudebros using friend codes and quad team scrub invaders.
>>
>>338075286
stunlocks aren't infinite. everything is 2 hit combos.
>>
>>338070183
Play it more. Add me, I also suck, we can fight each other using different weapons to learn their movesets.

>DEX build
There's your mistake
>>
>>338076337
I dont want to go str build. Its just not my style.
>>
>>338076486
DEX weapons will never outclass STR weapons in DSIII, Hyperarmor makes it so if you two lock swords and strike each other, DEX will lose because STR is probably using a weapon with higher Hyperarmor.
DEX builds are all about waiting for an opportunity to attack, and rely a lot in rolling and fast strikes, so you need to be patient or aggresive, while STR guy can play defensively since if he gets you when you swing, you will suffer a pretty hard hit.

STR can also be aggresive using roll R1, since most weapons do a pretty fast attack, even UGS do them.

The one weakness STR users face is lack of stamina, but if they know what they are doing, its easy to keep enough to roll away when a counter comes.
>>
The most important thing is knowing movesets. If you know what their weapon is capable of doing, you know how to counter it.
Don't hold your shield up, the shield is only good for avoiding staggers, which blocking with a weapon can do. Unless you're baiting a parry (normally timed after the first heavy weapon swing, or the second swing of anything else), disregard the shields.
Control the space based on your weapon reach compared to theirs. If they have a spear, don't let them control the space. Pressure them. Get close, but don't attack if they aren't two-handing. If they want to be close, create distance. Don't rely on rolling from them, though. You can be hit at the end of a roll, so be smart about that. Throwing knives and bombs are good for controlling space, manipulating the way people move is pretty useful.
Roll IN to curved swords, spears and halberds. Roll AWAY from everything else.

It's best to just play a lot, and learn minor things that people do. You can usually determine the way a person plays by being somewhat defensive, getting close but not attacking, and if they're doing the same, you can take that as an opportunity to pretend you play a way you often don't, or to just force them to act. Patience is pretty valuable in the game, and most people will win by punishing the mistakes of others.
>>
>>338077620
This. STR is superior but has a higher skill ceiling. DEX is easier to use and doesn't punish mistakes as hard, but falls short on raw attack power.
>>
does anyone have the skill required vs. pvp viability for weapons graph?
>>
The longer the weapon, the easier it is to win. Well, unless it's a halberd, I have a lot of respect for any non-Gundyr halberd user.
>>
>>338071502
This is correct
At the same time I hate myself for doing it, it's so fun

Plus it easily weeds out parry spammers

I was gonna give SFV a shot, I figured it would be the ideal first choice.

Carthus curved sword, onikiri and udabachi, washing pole. Carthus rouge. Learn to trade end learn where in their swings weapons have hyper armor. Don't try to parry two handed attacks. You're welcome.

I made the mistake of taking my build from 100 to 120, and the build variety seemed to go down. It was pretty weird. More straight swords, more shitters. Not making that mistake with my other builds.
>>
>>338079959
you must be unlucky then cause I don't see that many straight swords besides the dark sword spammers who are 9 times out of 10 bad at the game

Wierd, i thought most people stayed at 99, so by the end of the game i was 76 and i never went past 99.

What's the difference? just a few more points in Vit and End?

>>
Any essential gear other than a weapon to hit them with, something to parry with and something to punish estus?
>>
>>338080139
Very unlucky, considering I stuck with that build at 120 for a while. 120 is almost certainly worse than 100 from my experiences, I've managed to have a lot of builds at 100 to know there's little reason to go to 120 anyway.
>>338080182
High stability shields, longer stamina for those spammers. Generally people that didn't want to make sacrifices and wanted more.
>>
>>338070183
Be the host instead of the invader, if you're the invader you'll be at a disadvantage since the host has a connection advantage.
>>
>>338080464
This is poor advice. Halberds are pretty damn easy to counter, instead you should go with the running R1 of a Washing Pole.
>>
>>338081153
I'm so bad against halberds, how do you counter them?
>>
Anyone here wanna practice? I'm level 41 now and only have +3 weapons, just beat the giant skeleton guy. I have enough shards for +6 though and can enough souls to level up to 50.
>>
>>338081438
They're pretty much forced in to two-handing, or they're gonna get parried every time. They're slow, easily punished. The only thing you have to watch out for is the weapon art after a hit, but you can roll out of it. Gundyr's is probably the easiest one to use, but that charge leaves them pretty open. I'm fairly certain it can be parried during, too. So aggressive play works. They'll block while two-handing to avoid the stagger, but the majority of their attacks are slow enough to dodge easily. They really need to control spacing, so deny that. And they don't hit very hard, either. Not from my experience, anyway. Use one and you'll quickly notice its weaknesses.
>>
>>338080908
1 piece of kirks to take out tears of denial

Never thought about using one to learn its weaknesses, will try that, thanks anon

As somesone said earlier, beside some weapon arts combo, you need to learn the 2 hits rule Anon.

Spacing is also a very useful skill in pvp, seeing the right "safe" space where you are sure you can't be hit but still being able to punish your opponent is important.

Waiting for your opponent to attack you is actually a viable but stressful strategy, you can easily punish them if they whiff.

If you are using a 2handed weapon, it's also very important that you understand how to trade hits in your advantage.

Also it's also very important that you understand how your opponent weapon works, trying out different style of weapon is important.
For example, you can easily learn that a 2handed BKGA can't do more than 3 R1 in a row, so against someone using it you can learn how to punish them for trying to attack you 3 times.

Against a opponent using a Greataxe (Yorhm's Great Machete or Dragon Slayer Greataxe...etc), you can also learn to backstab them easily by finding the right distance to roll through their 2 first attack.
If they try to attack you a third time they can easily be backstabbed.

What I'm trying to say is, you simply need to play the game and try out different weapons and fight a LOT to understand everyone's strategy and have a plan against them.

Don't give up OP, and courage!
>>
>>338070183
Also one thing that will make you a better pvp player is patience. Wait your opponent out. Let them make the first move. Dont stress and try to kill them right away. Just force them to play by your rules.
>>
>>338084750
>>338070183
Oh and also, parrying may be difficult, but you can use some strategy to bait people on doing a specific attack that you can parry easily.

>>338085087
This is also a very important advice.
If the opponent get the first hit on you, don't try to pursuit them and simply be patient.
