Just buy a cheap ass 360 and the games. You could do all that for under 100 bucks, and then you would also have access to the massive library that the 360 has. Most games for that console are like 5 bucks nowadays.

PS3 had lots of outright shit, but Resonance of Fate and Valkyria Chronicles are both good and stronger titles than Blue Dragon.
BD is more on par with Ni no Kuni and Eternal Sonata.

I never got the appeal of those games. The ring system is annoying and skill progression is bland as hell. I just look at Gepetto for instance. All throughout the game he finds new skills that simply give him a basic elemental attack with no increase in power. Talk about boring as fuck. That said the story was better than the Mystwalker stuff.

Seriously though, it's a bit worse in SH1 but is better in SH2 (especially with expanders). It's all about timing, really. Once you get used to character's ring it's simple.
