It is a shit game.

The spawn methods and teleportation of zeds is really wonky and not very well applied. It probably sounded like a good way to mitigate kiting, on paper, but turned out like shit.

Everything spongier than the previous game, the only difference is the visuals are better so they think no one will notice.

It's a decent game, but barely anyone knows how to play the game proper and the only strat that consistently works in hoe is bodyblocking with zerks while medics heal.

Community is pretty much gone, the recent negative reviews are mostly lack of updates and then microtransactions.

Which are pure aesthetics, then with that they don't even fucking make the skins, they take them from the workshop and then add them in game. Then people act like that is why it's taking so long to get the classes out, but as usual people are shit at grasping things.

Not to mention balance changes have been slow as fuck and entire classes are useless. Demo was too good at killing bosses in the first game, so they made it absolutely useless by giving every boss tons of explosives resistance. Meanwhile, firebug is overpowered as fuck. And due to the massive 3-5 month gaps between patches, that meant those balance issues hung around forever.

TW has talked about consoles before, I expect them to speak about that at e3 as well as sharpshooter

The potential market remaining for the pc version of the game seems limited. So it would make sense if they poured the majority of their resources to consoles.

If they would of released early access on consoles it would have flopped so hard with almost no content. They have what, 7 current official maps compared to the initial 3 and then soon they will add 9 more from the mapping contest.

Consoles will get the full game, which makes the pvp mode make more sense as well. Even though no core fan asked for it, it's more less standard now to have pvp in your games. I have to imagine or at least hope the console version comes out fall/holiday time.

I think they need to put more focus on actually completing the core gameplay mechanics though. They seem to be putting so much detail into little subtle visuals, animations, and just backend stuff and features that they're letting annoying things that are unfinished sit in the game like Zed teleportation, which they said they'll address way last year.

So yeah, it's a better quality game than a lot of AAA titles that release, but the devs seem to have autism and focus on aesthetics over the actual balance and weapon releases, and so the development of the game is stupidly slow. I'd say it's still better than most EA games in terms of development, but still far worse than the development of games like Rust or Awesomenauts where they let the community know everything.

I've got over 200 hours in it since launch. And the thing that bugs me the most is the playerbase. There are around less than 1000 players and most of them have no idea how to play the game. You'll see lots of 20+ players using off perk weapons and generally playing awfully on higher difficulties

Machete weighs 1 block and every perk (not counting zerk) with the highest tier on-perk weapons usually goes up to 14/15. This means that you can carry the machete without drawbacks (15/15). Support can kill a scrake with just 1 alt fire machete headshot and 1 alt-fire hunting shotgun in like 2 seconds, while sharpshooter has to take xbow arrows out of his ass for 1 second longer adding up to 3 FUCKING SECONDS PER SCRAKE. Flinching =/= stun.

Given the way trash zed health is handled over the difficulties in the new game, off-perking is more viable than ever. It used to just be that off-perking was generally a terrible idea outside of very specific exceptions, but now it's wise to off-perk.

Demo can make better use of any gun as an early-game backup, pistols are better than ever, etc etc.

I should elaborate. They're not overpowered, but they're really fucking strong. That's not the worst part though- the worst is when they're enraged, they'll never, ever stop attacking, so unless the entire team is ready it's easy to get totally screwed.

What happens is good teams generally just avoid scrakes until the end of the wave because they're too much trouble. Fleshpounds are killed before scrakes are, that's how annoying it is.

As for scrakes being left until the end of the wave, that's always what happens when someone's kiting. They're not going to start raging a scrake until they're sure no more fleshpounds are going to spawn in or a bunch of trash is going to get in their way. This is how it went in KF1 too.

Can't say I'm not disappointed but knowing how tripwire fucked up with RO2, history was bound to repeat itself. I honestly don't see a come back once sharpshooter is out and who knows when the ETA for the last 2 remaining perks will be released. Its such a shame really, how do you go from the first game to this...everything was laid out for them, all they had to do is reskin and it would had been better than what we have today, little content and it being made for consoles in mind truly screwed it over. Yet I still play, I don't why, maybe hoping it will get better but the ammo update was a blessing.

The game's fun, although teleporting zeds needs to go. The updates when they come with new classes are decent, and it's still enjoyable to play, but why don't they actually work on it? It's like TWI is a company of people who love things but then give up when the hardest part comes in.

I genuinely enjoy most of the games they've made. Despite getting fucked in the ass with KF2, with both the state of the game and lowering the price like a month after I bought it, I'm probably still going to get Rising Storm 2 when they finish it in 2023.

Which are the only ones that matter since there's no combos to take them out like in kf2. So in the end you have these huge bulletsponge zeds with no real perk (except a good gunslinger to off scrakes) to deal with them because they decided all perks should be a jack of all trades instead of having assigned roles. Except demo, which is just shit overall. Not to mention the overall ammo pool before they buffed it meant that you had to use your ammo super conservative or leaving it to the zerkers, which always just end up with a 20min long kitefest for a single wave.

Don't get me wrong, i've enjoyed the early access. But there are alot of things wrong with the game. Whereas KF1 felt more unique in every aspect, KF2 just feels very bland. Also why did they add a pvp mode no one gives a shit about/asked for? They could have used that manpower and time to work on another perk or maybe even add a new zed instead

They should have abandoned early access after finally getting firebug and demo out. Just a "Sorry, we misjudged how much time this would take. The current live version will have a balance pass and we'll let you know in a year when the game is actually mostly finished." They could have just TALKED about numbers tweaking in between updates, but it seems like a couple months of little to no information about anything of note is how they like to keep their hype train going. And then just as everyone has reached maximum disinterest, they announce something that no one wants to rev up that negativity.

Their customer communication is right bottom of the barrel. They've discovered entirely new types of ball so that they could subsequently drop them. It's a practical study in how not to manage your community.
