You control a firefly in a land of shadow to guide the girl through puzzles. After a bit you get a shadow firefly that can affect physical objects or stun shadow monsters.
You guide her through what seems like a post-apoc world of some sort and you can find these little plant sprouts that show a glitchy past of hers. Something about her being the second product of a couple of genetic scientists or something.

You are loli, there are fireflies that guide loli to safety while unlocking her memories in the process. Also, everything wants to kill loli because reasons. In all honesty the game is pretty good across the board aside from the control schemes and its pretty readily recommendable to anyone who likes more out there games like Yume Nikki or ib.

I don't think you can really compare the two. Even if htoL#NiQ is hard, there's always a clear solution you can find on the first try.Eryi's, there're invisible block and the like, you can't pass it without knowing.

Overall plot is that Mion, the daughter, died and you play as the fireflies who are her parents guiding a clone (that nonetheless has its own conciousness) through dangers and obstacles (something that has been done plenty of times before as evident by the amount of Mion corpses you come across) in order to reach a destination killing the clone to get a body for the actual Mion's soul.
Both Mions end up having a fight and die but are able to make up.
It's all very tragic, really.

The PC version shouldn't be nearly as bad. I'm not sure how anyone thought it was a good idea to navigate a tight corridor while bobbing up and down while also having the screen partially covered by your fingers and then follow it up with a puzzle with multiple potential solutions when you only have time to try one.
