EA bringing back older titles at first sounded good to me, but looking back at how they have treated some older titles like simcity.......I'm not sure EA is the company to do that.

A relic of it's time. But for it's time, as is with all classic Origin Games titles, it was way ahead of its time.
Imagine classic Alone in The Dark / Resident Evil tank controls and static camera angles.
Now imagine the NUMPAD being your primary control scheme. Instead of some simple tank movement (you were able to shuffle sideways, somewhat useful) and shooting, you had a pretty damn long list of martial arts moves in combat mode.
Given the era, there was no lock-on of any sort so your kick/punch/roundhouse/whatever would just be thrown in the direction you were facing. It made melee and aiming your blaster gun really difficult (it would otherwise be super easy). Your guy moves about as you would expect of a tank control third person game - very clumsily and slow.
Even with the above, it was far more of an Adventure game, lots of items to pick up, logic puzzles to get through, some backtracking, some banging your head against the wall trying to figure out what to do next, fighting a cybernetic velociraptor, some management of your body's energy system, reading lots of text from personnel logs you pick up to get clues.
I enjoyed it back then, but it wasn't until recently that I had actually completed the game.
