Devs have had 2 hour streams almost daily from every faction ever since last monday. You can find them on youtube where they play through the campaign on Normal. It shows exactly how the game plays and what to expect.

Posting this again for new people unfamiliar with warhams.
Warhammer does have some pretty interesting aspects. For instance while it's usually said "Norsaca is chaos" there are Norscans that don't follow chaos, they're stilly horn wearing Vikings who rape and pillage they just don't do it for chaos and can ally with the Empire though usually they are allied with Kisliv or hired by Kisliv.
Generally the Empire can engage in diplomacy with Bretonnia, Kisliv, The Dwarven Holds, Estelia, Tilia, The Border Princes, and the High Elves. Also maybe Cathay but I can't remember.
Some other neat stuff. Several Tomb King Lords have human cities and their ruled over like any other human land. They consider them as their subjects and only really go out to get back their rightful clay.
Ork mercenary bands are a thing and can be hired by giving them teeth or weaponry. Generally a double edged sword but if you point them in the right direction they can be useful.
Kisliv is a nation that is half Novograd and half Poland-Lithuania commonwealth with Hussars, and Bear riding Hussars. Led by a literal Ice Queen who can freeze men's blood in their veins.
There's a pirate ship run by an insane vampire lord who basically fucks with shit for fun because he is immortal.
Lustria home of he lizardmen is South America and the lizardmen are the Mayans except made up of velociraptors and giant mummified toad men.
The Dorfs built a giant airship, a derigiable loaded with cannons.
There's a cannon in Middenheim in the wall with a barrel width of a 4 story house that's loaded by Giants in the Emperors service.
The Skaven have an underground Empire that stretches the world and everything about them is both hilarious, terrifying, and cool.

That's why I like the much hated realm divide mechanic from shogun 2. Seriously having the entire remaining section of the map go to war against you was hard as shit.
FOTS was incredibly hard if you went Republic. Having to fight off both the Imperial and Shogunate forces was fucking hard and fun. Rome 2 needed something like this, or a guaranteed opposite Empire to go to war with when you select a faction.

As much as I hate to say it, yes. AoS is a "successor" to Fantasy. I always took the hatred of GW with a bit of salt, but lately I realise why people hate them. The whole modding debacle was the tipping point for me, as well as that article with the shareholder who visited GW.
