The points about iffy emulation and limited library already came out, but it's also worth mentioning you can softmod the OG box pretty easily and it can do a whole lot of tricks. You can pop in a larger HDD, change the console region with a simple program, transfer game .isos directly to the HDD with FTP over LAN, etc

The backwards compatibility isn't great, so I wouldn't recommend it. I'd say it's worth it. The Xbox is pretty cheap.
