I played the NA and UK versions when they were both new and really dint recall getting invaded at l. All you'll miss out on is the Old Monk fight. The rest of the game is great. I've played Bloodbornd recently and hated having vials instead of Estus so I'd imagine the grass on Demon's might be annoying too. First time around it was really unique, really cool and really fun.

There are NPCs you can summon for some of the bosses. For those that don't you retry until you come up with a strategy that works or until you get down their patterns. With some luck you can suceed.
Honestly if you persevere Soulsborne games aren't that challenging, we're very far from those insane NES games back then when you had to develop insane reflexes and memorize whole levels bits by bits.
Also don't play this game because of the difficulty, its not really the point, there is so much more to Demon Souls.

So I figured I'd go back and finally beat DeS because I've always been too lazy to actually finish it. The first level was alright, I remembered most of the layout from my last try. Then I get to THE FIRST BOSS and almost fucking die. If I had died, then I would have wasted all my firebombs for nothing, and I probably would have just restarted because getting close enough to him without being speared a million times is impossible early on.
Okay, I think, this is just a one off, until I get absolutely demolished by the ogres with pickaxes in the second stage, and it's impossible to run past half of them. I'm quickly out of grass, so that's basically just gg.
I go farm the skeletons in 4-1 for a bit to upgrade my weapon, but it doesn't matter because grass is impossible to farm early on so the playthrough is basically ruined unless I spend 30 minutes grinding to buy the shitty grass available to me.
