Everyone in this thread is just posting games that they really don't like but had no impact on their genre.
It's actually the good games that are more destructive to genres, because people are more likely to copy.
Like, Kingdom Rush was okay as a Tower Defence game but it ruined the entire genre.
Minecraft was fun (at first) but it helped usher in the attitude of indie devs making something of low quality and expect it to take off.
My sister made good Scratch projects but she ruined the entire community.

It's the Ocarina of Time for the FPS genre.
Like Ocarina, it hasn't aged as well as some might say, but for a decade the game stood as the golden standard that every FPS tried and failed to emulate.
It's took over 10 years for the FPS genre to recover and start doing new things and expanding the boundaries of the genre again.

WoW was so succesful that everyone tried to copy it, failing miserably.
Assassin's Creed butchered what open world adventure games were. Also the quality of dialogue and background on most games started to fail in that regard.
