I finished the Halo CE yesterday and didn't really liked it. My biggest gripe is the level design, it was way too repetitive.
Also weapons were a bit unbalanced, seeing as the shotgun was the most powerful weapon in short and medium-long range (apart from the starting pistol). Every alien weapon was pretty bad in comparison

In some ways, it feels 10 years old, but is considered the best because, unlike the later games, it doesn't try anything different to stand out.
Super tight controls, well designed maps, solid single player with no bad points, forge was an incredible feature.

I've been a fan of the games for a long time and honestly I think 1 is the weakest link. 2 is pretty great, but some don't like the Arbiter levels. I didn't at first, but in retrospect they were honestly some of the best levels in the series. 2 also has a longer campaign with more area variety. It's my favorite in the series although most would say 3 is the peak of Halo.

I didn't want to say anything but you know what fuck it. The only thing Halo 2 campaign did right in the original trilogy was story. When cam to level design and mission structure it was the worst in the trilogy. The Arbiter Missions was the worst aspect of the game. It was just gray Flood corridors and bullet sponge Brutes mixed in with shitty boss fights. Master Chief missions actually played similar to his missions in CE & 3 and weren't as scripted as the Arbiter (most likely due to Bungie making MC you instead of his own character like Arby). I know not to listen to /v/ when they make a suggestion since they thought D44m was shit.
Lets be super optimistic and assume we'll get Halo 3 PC. Which would you rather have, just a simple optimized port with high resolution textures, or a full remake Halo 1 & 2 anniversary style, with the possibility of certain mechanics being broken as a result?

Well they were thrown in at the last second so they didn't really test them.
I actually liked them. Their weapons were strong, and them going berserk was dangerous, it kinda felt appropriate that they were tanky as fuck.
Definitely preferred it over 3's way of just making them bigger Elites but with fur.

Infection form only kills you if you're no shields. Also the only flood which is broken are shotgun flood because their range is just ridiculous. I speedran Halo 2 on legendary on many times and Flood are by far the most fair enemies

That's the problem with them. They are horribly glitched in Halo 2. In Halo CE & 3 if an infection form gets on you, you can shake them off by running around. If too many get on you then it becomes a problem and you will die from being overwhelmed.
The most fair enemies to fight in Halo 2 are the original Covenant members that you fight in CE (ignoring the snipers). The Flood and the two new additions to the Covenant (Drones and Brutes) needed more work. Flood were actually fun to fight in CE and decent in Halo 3.

It's more like I've played it to fucking death and back over the past decade and I miss the days when it was coming out, playing it when it was new, and just the glory days of Halo in general. 343i may have picked it up, but it's not the same thing. Back when Bungie was making Halo was when I loved videogames. It's more like I miss when Halo was a legitimate force in the industry and it was good to be a fan. The hype was only part of that. I still love the game and it gets replayed, but it's really sad because it's been a decade and nothing has come out that soothes that void in my life.

Duders, it's not Halo that has declined, it's all of FPS, all of them have declined.
It has gotten harder and harder to make new and interesting FPSs that will sell to large audiences with that sort of impact it had when the 360 came out.
Even when the next big thing comes out, people still might not be as excited about it.
With the way the internet has grown, more and more people will look for reviews or let's plays to checkout the games before they come out, the shock value of playing new games won't be the same but if all you want is shock value then maybe you should rethink...
Personally, the shock value and excitement isn't as important to me then the actual game, if the game is good and appeals to me, then i will play it.

When you have bullet sponge enemies who just won't fucking die that's how you don't like a Brute Holocaust, plus like every other Arbiter mission it was linear as fuck and I was stuck using mostly a Covenant weapon and vehicle sandbox with barely any Human weapons along with the level again being the same color as Arby's armor. Bungie really wasn't going for much color variety with the Arbiter were they.
