So decided to try a new FPS and going with Overwatch.
Ignoring whether or not you actually like the game, should I go with the console (Xbone) version or the PC? I have been a console gamer with FPS my whole life but this game seems like the competitiveness and majority of people will play it as a PC game?
I don't really care too much about graphics or anything, I just want to dip into the largest and most competitive player base as I go....which should I go for?
Or if you absolutely despise this game feel free to suggest a recent or upcoming FPS that looks good.

Like any FPS game that isn't CoD, this game will probably be dead after two weeks on consoles. It might end up like Payday or TF2 where it never gets updated due to low sales.
Keep in mind that balancing is being done separately for the console and PC versions. The console versions have some super aim assist.
So go console if you want a casual screw around game. PC if you're looking for a game you can have fun gittin gud at.

If you have a PC that can get 60 fps I'd definitely pick it up for PC.
Like, it's gonna have competitive matchmaking on both but I feel like if you can get used to the KB + M you'll really enjoy getting competitive.

the game runs great on consoles but I'd definitely buy the PC version because of 2 reasons:
1) using a controler limits the effectiveness of certain heroes like Tracer since it's almost impossible to archive the precise controls you need for her playstyle
2) and this is purely based on personal experience: I played the beta on both PC and PS4 and the experiences couldn't have been more different.
literally 90% of the matches I played on console we're people picking Reaper and ignoring the objective to play TDM. people were so bad that you could only choose between 3 cards at the end of most matches.
while this shit happened on PC,too it happend WAY less frequent than on console and the matches generally had an overall more "competent" feel to it.

Honestly OP, I played it on both X1 and PC.
This is the first shooter I have ever played that plays just as well on console as I does on PC.
Sure, it's a bit faster paced on PC and if you're running a good card you can get some smooth performance, but you can go either way with this one.
Get which ever version you like the controller scheme for better and which version you have more friends to play with. That is all.

I played on PS4 and PC and there isn't too much of a difference.
If you play FPS on PC a lot more then of course you are going to like a mouse a lot better, if not then there is no big deal. This game is more team work based then mechnical based anyway so it isn't that big of a problem.
A lot of people here are calling people shit but once you get to higher levels its not really that bad. People play objectives a lot more. And I am sure people will eventually git gud. Don't forget that was a beta so a lot of F2P TDM fags probably joined in. The game is still perfectly playable on console. Just pick the one you like more/ has your friends on it.
The only real problem is that it is possible that a lot of people might jump to the next CoD or Battlefield when it comes out so be wary of that.

It was so much better with a mouse and keyboard it's unreal. Half the heroes are near-impossible to play with a controller.

I played during the entire beta (close & open). There were plenty of players. People rarely picked the same hero (and even then 2 of the sam was the max), didn't even understand all that whining about six of the same heroes in the topics.
As someone who tried the beta on both PS4 and PC, the console version is an abomination. I've played my fair share of console shooters in my days, but I would NEVER play Overwatch on console. The game is just too fast paced to be played with a gamepad. I literally had games on console where both teams stood in blobs and shot at eachother, like every character was Bastion.
