I guess. Personally I always found the very bleak, lonely nature of the trailer interesting, along with the fact that Fenix's first instinct was always to run until he had no choice and when he did finally have to fight, he was clearly about to piss his pants in terror. Also, dat madworld.
The game itself certainly wasn't bad and had aspects of that in its tone but it was also pretty OORAH KILL DEM SUMBITCHES the whole way through.

I feel sorry for people who didn't get to live through this. It isn't possible for something like this to happen again with how information is leaked these days.
The trailer was edited together to make it look like Snake is the main character, you hear a voice line from Raiden but you never see his face, they make sure to include a lot of Snake lines and dialogue - it is perfect.
Less than three months later people popped the game in, played for an hour and then literally had no idea what the fuck was going on from that point onward.

I am a huge MGS fanboi... not gonna lie. It is my favorite series ever... and MGSV was the biggest disappointment in gaming for me...
the best parts were honestly the trailer.
I am one of those people who played MGS for the story and actually like all the cutscenes and dialog... and since theg ame didnt have much but what was shown in the cutscenes.... was a little sad... LITERALLY every cutscene was shown in a trailer... EVERY ONE....
