Temple of Baa was one of the most horrible dungeons i had in the series.

Sell this game to me.

you explore a cave in a world where the sun has gone out and everyone has fled underground.
it can play a bit clunky at first, but the magic system is worth it.
>learn runes
>learn how to spell out magic
>using these runes
>draw them
its really good
>>337976658
Any games you would compare it to?
>>337977643
definitely ultima underworld
>>337976362
Game has a lot of nifty things to it.
Crafting and cooking is fun, the atmosphere is great, Stephen Russel voices many of the characters in the game, some funny humor and moments, game offers a few puzzles, magic system is definitely unique and hasn't been recreated again, and the lore of the world and the races is pretty interesting for a single title game.
Basically the game is unique in terms of style and the stuff it adds and how they portray them. Definitely worth a try.
>>337977643
like morrowind but you can actually hit stuff, and its denser but smaller in comparison.
also, the atmosphere is thick
>>337977749
It had neat physics, too. Was a -much- better first person RPG than Dark Messiah of Might and Magic.
it's more of an action rpg that takes place in dungeons.
>>337974228
that and ultima underworld
its crazy how theres not more games like these. cautiously looking forward to underworld ascendant
>>337976362
you have to put spikes in zombies if you dont want them to get back up
>>337976362
Make sure to get this mod if you're planning on playing this game.
Its a must.

I have the xbox version of this game but I've never played it. Probably the next game I'll play
>>337978768
The combat and artstyle looks pretty bad, but maybe the dungeons or something will save it.
>>337979073
Does the mod change anything in game besides fixing bugs?
For a first playthough I want to experience it the way devs wanted.
I'm always afraid to install mods because I worry they will make the game to easy.
>>337979817
Seconding this
>>337979817
Yeah, it just adds fixes and some some code changes. You'll still play the original game and how it was intended.

The magic drawing detection was sorta flaky in the original release. They fixed it so that you can cast spells more reliably now.
>>337979817
The only stuff it removes is some buggy graphics options. I've tried playing the original game and it runs at like 15FPS
I have a boxed copy and keep meaning to play it. I cant get the latest patch to install so I acquired the GoG release and Arx Liberatis. I plan to read the manual I have on the toilet sometime and start the game
Is stealth worth putting points into or is it broken like dark messiah?
What does the fog distance option do? is it better maxed out or the lowest?
>>337979817
its just for making the game run on modern systems
In Arx Lib what's the best renderer?
System Shock 1
It's a huge shame Grimrock 2 didn't do nearly as well as the first.
It's such a great fucking game.
>>337982614
I forgot I had the first. Should play it
>>337974228
>start playing
>try to draw the runes
>can't
>quit
Fuck
>>337982672
The first is a really solid game, and definitely worth a playthrough if you haven't.
>>337982809
You learn
>>337982809
set color mode to 16bit instead of 32
yeah it'll look like shit but you'll be able to cast
it's a known bug but for some reason those faggots from libertatis won't fix it
>>337983589
Libertais hasnt been updated in 3 years
Arcanum
>>337982672
Yes, and then play the second because it's better in almost every conceivable way
skyrimseriously, the Dwarven ruins were my favorite to explore I don't think any game has come close to how amazing those look
>>337982614
They overdid it with the secrets. Made it impossible for OCD people to play.
>>337974228
>want to try it out
>download the demo
>demo doesn't even run
>"oh you need to use some random unofficial patch/game version to get the game to run"
Guess fucking not then.
Oh man everyone wasn't kidding when they said this game is basically another Ultima Underworld. It feels and looks exactly how I'd imagine a "modern" Underworld game to be like.
>>337986184
That's exactly what it is, and it's really good as such.
