It's not even mandatory, there are other easier ways to get a pass.
I'm still fucking mad, who in the right mind thought that a quest like this was possible with this games shitty combat system? EVERY OTHER QUEST where you have to protect someone else against enemies gives the NPC a huge amount of health, what the fuck were they thinking?

It's not that difficult, just rush ahead and kill the ghouls before they engage with the Caravan. Additionally, wait until the guards are close before you start the quest. You get doggy + guard support.

You make it sound as though the shitty swords in this game don't do pathetic damage, and that if EVEN ONE ghoul gets past you there's no way to catch up with it. You engage one, the other fucks off towards the field.
You can only watch as it tears through everything in one hit in seconds.

Look, you only need to defend the single guy, anyone else can die and you can still succeed the quest. And if you get the guard to help you, they can't actually die. Usually you have 2x militia, 2x doges and 1x guardsman to help you. The militiamen die in two hits but they're a good distraction for the scenario you just described. Afaik that's only in the final wave where there are 4 of em.

It's a low level recommended quest near the starting point in Velen.
It has nothing to do with the dodging and attack skill of the player, it's a fucking herding minigame where you have to try and work with the games shitty aggro range. It's bullshit.

I was starting a new playthrough to play HOS and that new DLC, but this just fucking got to me.
Since the beginning the gameplay of this game has rubbed me the wrong way, but coming back to this fucking quest is as if the game is pissing in my face. I ALREADY HAVE the pass, but this stupid fucking farmer is standing there with that exclamation mark above his head. This is the straw that broke the camels back, I'm fucking mad.

Alright, here's what you're gonna do. You save between every single wave, so if you fail once you don't have to start at the beginning again. I doubt you'll have any difficulty with the waves before the Gorefiend. After you kill the Gorefiend the final wave spawns with the 4 ghouls, and you need to save fairly close to the gravedigger at that point.
Now, if the guards and doggies haven't engaged yet, you keep reloading the game until they do. And when they do, you focus on protecting the gravedigger alone. Nobody gives a shit if a doggy or some lone farmer bites the dust.

To get fake papers, you have 3 ways. Axii. Pay him. Do the quest to get the payment down to 25. If you fail the quest, you just can't get fake papers but you can still get papers from Baron.

Ended up having to run upwards as far as I could go and axii as many ghouls as I could.
It was still only by a hair that I managed to stop them from killing the brother.
Near the start the patrol came by, but they fall just as quickly.
