The context of that track is what makes it hit the hardest. Every single other song in the game is this epic, earblasting orchestral galactic epic..
you spend the whole game hearing about the "lord of cinder" and how indestructible and unmistakably great he is
then (dark souls spoilers ahead) you finally make it to the last boss... in his desolate throneroom, and here he is, the lord of cinder, except he's this frail old man who's basically hollowed and decomposed to bones
and after all of this, he just swings wildlly at you..it becomes the easiest fight in the game, and that's it.
haering that song for the first time when you walk in there expecting the fight of all time, and instead it's just this fallen king was fucking amazing. wish ic ouold experience that aginagain forthe first time
