Yes you can run, jump, sprint. You've also got a jetpack.
>>
So, No Man's Sky is about what?

Going to a planet, collecting a resource, building an upgrade.

What else do you?

Kys. The devs have said over and over this won't be the case in NMS. They said specifically that it won't just be gay retextures and reskins of the same shit

what

Of course they're going to say that, they are promoting it and want to sell copies of it.

I have to admit that it looks a tiny bit more interesting after watching this recent clip:
https://youtu.be/D-uMFHoF8VA

Still, none of what he does looks like it'd be fun once you've done it 3-4 times. It looks like playing around in Skyrim or Fallout 4. Fun at first, but then you realize that you've done and seen everything there is and you're still only 5% done.

Is there a pvp or some sort of competitive aspect to the game?
>>
>>337955803
>>337953835
>>337953889
>>337952756
>>337952867

The thing about nms is that it's being built around the procedural generation algorithm they created for the universe, unlike other games with proc gen. Minecraft for example has all the building and crafting as the focus, and the proc gen maps you play in are a gimmick. But in nms that is the focus: to make the universe interesting to explore. Obviously there will be samey planets and recolors, but they have made it so at least 1/10th planet will be something much more different and interesting than the others. So that's why there has been little "gameplay" shown off, they want to get the universe just right and then after that they add in the fun things to do like trading, fighting, mining, etc. But the goal is to make the awesome planets you find worth the grind through the basic planets.
>>
>>337956640
No. I'm not going to try to explain the multiplayer aspect, but it is NOT competitive, you probably won't ever see another player and if you do they don't have name tags or anything to designate that they aren't just an npc. It's a singleplayer game with very minor online aspects
>>
>>337953720
Go shill your awful "game" somewhere else.
>>
>>337955803
ahahahaha holy fuck it looks even more boring than I thought it would be

>what do you do
>uh, uh, uh explore
>uh relics
>pls buy game
>>
>>337957046
Man /v/ is going to have a field day trolling the shit out of this game.
>>
>>337957046
And that's all fine and well if they can do it.
It just doesn't look that way from what we've seen. Many will probably love it (hell, think about the people who spend hundreds of hours fucking around in TES and Fallout), and perhaps it'll end up as a fucking great game where it's still interesting to explore your 30th planet. But they haven't shown us anything that points in that direction yet.
It looks shiny, vast and shallow.
>>
>>337948935
man I fucking hate these false-flagging NMS threads

thank god for /vg/
>>
>>337957931
I agree that they haven't shown enough. I understand though that they don't really want to show off too much, because they are selling it as an exploration game. The more they show us the less there is to discover for the players. I realize some people don't like this but I'm glad they are leaving some mystery to it. Games weren't always sold with all the information about them released a couple months before it was out, I don't get why everyone expects it nowadays.
>>
>>337953720
Procedural generation can be good, but if you think for a moment that you can realistically have an entire universe generated without samey planets you're delusional.
If it's very very good it'll take 30-50 planets for the average person to see patterns, assuming limited exploration per planet. Of course, the more one explores, the more likely patterns are to appear.
>>
The problem here is people are going "This game sucks" just because they don't like this kind of game; they find exploration, the main point of the game, boring, and as such say that the game is empty and boring. The target audience, people who love the thrill of discovery, will most likely like this game (Unless it turns out to basically just be reskin after reskin, an unlikely outcome). It's perfectly fine to not like this kind of game, just don't start calling everyone who likes it tasteless shills, aight?
>>

Exactly this

First time hearing about it i was skeptical about it as fuck, then i got really fucking hyped because how amazing i thought it would be when it comes out, but stopped and thought about how much the game has to cover and execute well to be something that i'll play for more than 2 hours because shit stops getting interesting

At it's worst, it'll bomb harder than a combination of Destiny and Spore
>>
>>337959730
As someone who fell for the Destiny meme, I sincerely hope that's not the case.
>>
If they implement the kind of game-changing updates that Notch and MS did for Minecraft this could be the game to end games.
>>
There is nothing to do ingame. No story, objectives or anything. It's just a glorified walking/flying simulator.

literally just download space engine, same shit but it's free

Lets assume the universe is full of life supporting planets, then how many will look similar at first glance? And the there are moons and asteroids... the cosmos is filled with samey looking shit.

>no multiplayer (on the very rare chance you even meet another player you cannot interact in any way)

>anything you do on a planet will be erased as soon as you leave it

>60 fucking dollars

DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE
>>
>>337965026
If this were supposed to be a realistic simulation of the universe I'd expect about one planet with life every few millions.
But it isn't, as I understand (I'm keeping myself out of direct visual information because I have a sliver of interest in it). It's supposed to present wonderful environments out of sci-fi stories with weird shit all around.
>>
>>337948935
That's not mankind divided

Thank god I don't have to play with you shitters.

Uhh what?
>anything you do on a planet will be erased as soon as you leave it
Only for other players, locally everything saves for you.
>indie tier first person gameplay, animations, and mechanics
Just because it's indie doesn't mean it's shit. Some (not all) indie games have the most innovative, artistic, and creative game directions
>60 fucking dollars
Well spent.
>>
It's.

I've learned all I need from interviews that this game's novelty will wear off in less than a week or two for most everyone
Plus its a fucking indie developer trying to make a game that even big studios don't want to attempt, with their portfolio being a fucking sidescrolling android game

The only people that are actually going to sink hours in this are people that REALLY love exploration, the rest are going to have a rude awakening since they won't even be able to play with their friends

>>
>>337967712
Yes, a studio of 20 guys is going to make the best space sim out there, something nobody has ever attempted

Waiting 2 years for Star Citizen to be possibly finished is a better idea than dumping 60 dollars on this trash that will lose its luster a few hours in
>>
>>337967882
With life on the planets and procedural planets, animal noises, soundtrack,
buildings, animals, weapons, and ships? I'd love to hear about it.
>>
>>337967882
Did you not read what he said, "indefinite early access phase." any of the first person space exploration games with seamless planetary landings fall under that category, with a few exceptions that are pretty old.
>>
>>337968215
You forgot the noFun police everywhere
>>
>>337968357
they're not on every planet. No one does any research about this game it seems
>>
>>337967882
And they're barebones and not well executed.

>>337968143
Did I say anything about NMS being the space sim? Stop fucking projecting.

Seriously what the fuck happened? Is the lack of multiplayer really that much of a break it deal for you?

>>337968357

I want to explore and discover cool things, not have some asshat killing everything just because he's too stupid to do anything else outside of that.

I haven't heard much about no man's sky mainly because no one knows that much about it. I feel like heat signature will be much deeper than no man sky... It'll probably be what no man sky is wanting to be
>>
>>337968876
>a game about sneaking aboard randomly generated enemy ships

This doesn't compare to no mans sky. The only similarity is that you're in space.
>>
>>337968529
>Harvest stuff
>Harvest one stone too much
>noFun police shows up out of fucking nowhere
Yeah what a shit concept like go on a planet and just look at it in green, next one in blue, than red, and green again ....
>>
>>337969971
I really hate this most of all. I want to be able to go to a planet and totally strip mine the surface, rape every ecological niche then glass the whole surface with some orbital bombardment. Turn it into a desolate rock.
>>
>>337948935
it's not out so right now it's the game of fucking nothing
>>
>>337948935
Honestly I'm insanely hyped for it. But I know what I expect and don't assume it'll have things that haven't been shown already. I'm worried this game will get shat on because people seem to be expecting shit they probably know won't happen. like the people expecting to meet other players, build shit, have some huge galactic war or something. I personally can't wait though I think it'll be pretty great. But again, it seems like it's constantly overhyped with shit that won't be likely.
>>
>>337966296
>uh what
not him but 18 Quintilian planets. he's not wrong in that part, we won't even explore 1% of the game realistically.
