You can get a R7 370. It's like 130 dollars or cheaper on sales and is better than what's in a PS4. Just couple it with a similarly 100 dollar-ish CPU and you're set. Sure, it'll cost slightly more than 400 bucks when you add everything else in but you don't have to pay to play online and you get legit good online sales depending on who you go with.
Plus you don't have to rebuy your games later through some HD re-release on another 400 dollar console.

My only regret will not being able to play Bloodborne online with a full community and have to pay to give it's online a try for the first month or so but oh well. Even Demon's Souls still has a moderately active community so whatever. The rest of those I doubt will have a huge online component.

If we were to follow the same train of thought as some of you, in order to find the approximate cost of a console, we'd have to take into consideration the following conveniences: a television of appropriate size (so that it looks good when sitting from our couch); a comfy couch (go ahead and find me a cheap, well-made couch without resorting to some arbitrary distinction); a TV stand (because, honestly, who would put their TV on the floor?); the subscription fee for the console's online; three more controllers (you do have friends, right anon?); and, of course, the console itself.
