What keyboard does /v/ use? I'm in the market for a mechanical keyboard under $100 to replace this shit $20 Logitech keyboard I'm currently using. Is there anything decent for under $100 that's not Razer?

Definitely don't buy fucking Corsair.
>>
>>337920719
Personally using a Filco Majestouch, think it was around $120. Honestly not really worth it, even if you're typing all day. It's sort of like wearing a less tight fitting shirt, it may be noticeably comfier at first, but you completely forget about it after continued use.

>>337921137
Have the keyboard in this pic as well, would spend a bit more on something from Logitech or similar.

Mechanical keyboards aka the most counterproductive thing you can buy for gaming. Yes, even with red switches which basically feel like membrane keyboards.

People were talking about significantly better longevity & reliability of Cherry MX switches, on paper they aren't not wrong, but in reality those switches are way more fragile than any other Keyboard type. I didn't expect them to be that fragile. I doubt that a modern mechanical switch will ever reach 50mio keystrokes let alone 60mio like Razer claims.

Red switches were created to imitate the rubberdome feel. A Mechanical Keyboard is basically an oxymoron. I mean what's the point of that? Why create something that costs more than 70 - 100 bucks to produce (guess) and sell it for more than +120 bucks to imitate the feeling of something that you can get for 20 - 60 bucks (a decent membrane one)

In short: I fell for the mechanical meme and they are disadvantageous for gaming no matter what switch you use.

They do m8
In fact, some felt worse than my second gen G15, I agree.

Other switches (i.e. brown, blue, black etc) are not made for gaming and only help with writing at best. For gaming you want something as linear as possible with short key travel. (scissor switch/chiclet keyboards)

There are some pseudo religious attitudes when it comes to mechanical keyboards. Most are just not suited for gaming. Deal with it mate.

QPAD MK50 was the best option I could find a few years back, solidly built, high key travel, not ridiculously loud with browns, cheaper than comparable options from Razer/Logitech etc.
Cost me about £80, dunno what that is in freedom bucks but I imagine it'd be cheaper because tech always is over there.

Kill yourself. You wasted 60€ that could have been used towards a keyboard that's actually good.
Also Logitech sucks dick. They haven't been good since 2004.

I used to use this before my cousin spilled soda on it. I thought I could remove the switches and clean it up, but the shit was soldered to the PCB.
It was very basic which I liked and was connected via micro usb to the back of the keyboard making it super easy to unplug and clean.
By some miracle though I managed to get a replacement though. So I'm just using one of those $10 dell keyboards till it gets here.

I wish Corsair would offer a customization service.

I'd love a K70 with
- clears everything on any non mentioned key
- mx speed or reds on arrow keys
- mx red on left shift
- blue with o-ring on spacebar
- blues on numpad

CM Storm Quickfire XT. Unparalleled value imo. Very low on bullshit but the font is ugly as fuck but I try not to care. It's sold under some other brand too with a non shit font but I forget what it is. Also it doesn't have dedicated media keys.

I like that it's just a keyboard. You'll need your own wrist rest, it doesn't have USB passthrough, lights or other bullshit that you probably don't use.

Any cheap (and by cheap I mean dirty cheap), no bullshit, plain and simple, keyboard that I can get an hold of? I want a keyboard that doesnt get my AWSD/SPACE keys jammed after months of usage.
>>
>>337926878
i checked it and they arent mx or any other brand switches, just noname switches that clone mx blue ones. I've never seen such a cheap mek keyboard though, so it might be worth it for that price, but beware, mx blue or their clones are very loud
