I'm currently playing a couple of NES VC games. I recently replayed OoT 3DS and also played some Bravely Second but dropped it around halfway through.
I actually started to hate it. The resolution is laughably low, all the games on it look like shit because of that, its so fucking blurry. Im looking into selling it but it has some flaws like the volume slider being difficult to slide so I cant get anything good for it. After I played Mario Golf and 3D land im just done, dont give a shit about anything else.

I bought it yesterday after some anon recommended it. It's very fun. There is some horseshit races however, you do everything perfectly, constantly have the gold crown, two blue fireballs and then in the home stretch three horses run past you and you finish 4th a clear second behind the winner. Then to rub it in the advice horse pops up saying "you ran perfectly, and your horse is super, but I guess those horses are superduper".
Beyond the occasional bullshit race it's very addictive however, and if you really can't be stuffed breeding up your own horses you can use other peoples QR codes to bring in some stud horses to breed you a good starter.

I bought Fire Emblem Awakening digitally because I was bored one night and it was on sale on the eshop. I should have gotten a physical copy. I also bought Tetris digitally because I didn't know that the game was also available as a physical copy. And my 3DS came with a digital copy of 3D Land. So there was no reason to get an additional physical copy of that.

The idea is that you contact the other characters in the game so you get to know them and their stories while also making your own on the way. If you're just farming and grinding, it's no wonder you're not enjoying it.

Yeah, all regular quests can be solo-ed. You need to like the combat though, if not, it'll get extremely repetitive as you have to fight through two iterations of pretty much the same content before getting to G rank, where the farm game begins. It goes faster with co-op or some buddies.

Well I played through 15 hours of it (the 3DS 3U one) and I really wanted to like it, what with all the cool monsters, big weapons, etc. But the movement was painfully slow, weapons I wanted to use were sluggish (switch axe and bowgun), and I must have tried 20 times on a monster called Qurupeco but it fucked me a new one. I also got murdered by a bear in a starting area because the camera kept auto adjusting into a wall so I couldn't see the monster.
Mostly MH3U and 4U, and Steamworld Heist when I need to wind down.

Honestly, I personally dislike the faster weapons in MH, because they don't feel like the hits they do have as much impact on the monster as the heavy ones. My own movement speed comes later.
Also monsters in 3U are kinda damage sponges and playing solo doesn't help. 4U is better in that regard.
As for the camera, 3U introduced the soft camera lock-on: you tap the icon of the monster on the touch screen to "lock" onto it, then you can just tap the L button to center the camera on it.
A proper second stick sure would be better, but this is quite enough for the job, even when hunting the most furious monsters in the game.

Typhoons just mean you're going to spend most of your time fixing your crops. If you have any worth harvesting but haven't for whatever reason, do it now. Lots of running around and fixing shit is what's going to happen. It'll calm down after a few hours in game.

CB can be a little bit too complicated for a new player. Although in reality it's not as complex as it might look.
But I'd still recommend new players to start with the GS. It's both easy to use, very mobile and safe, and tremendously powerful, so you'd get decent kill times even if you're not using it to its full potential.

It definitely has a learning curve. Luckily the MH community is fantastic and usually great at helping/encouraging new players without looking down on them. Check out /mhg/ if you have any help. When I was new a veteran offered to join me in a 2P co-op mission and didn't attack, just helped coach me on the basics since the ingame stuff isn't ideal. It was really helpful, nice of them to do since they spent maybe half an hour watching a shitty new player swing blindly, and a large percentage of the community is just happy to see people picking up the game and giving it a try.

Since you're a newcomer to the series you might not know that, since not all action games do that, but monsters in MH have different hitzones, so damage you do to them can vary drastically depending on where you hit them.
Qurupeco in particular has armored claws which tend to get in the way of your attacks.
Hitting the monster's weakpoint, and just hitting it wherever makes a huge difference in quest clear time.
And yeah, flying monsters can be annoying to fight even if you have marked them with a paintball, but I assume you might have missed that mechanic as well.
Started to hate it since I got my vita. Only new releases I bought last year were super pokemon mystery dungeon and devil survivor 2 record breaker and only put in about 5 hours into both of them. Turned in on a couple days ago to get my legendary birds only to find out the right shoulder button is fucking up. At this point, I'm only waiting for smt iv apocalypse and ace attorney 6 since I have no faith in game freak.

Bigger weapons have a better chance at stopping a monster even at the moment of its attack but you gotta have timing, can't just charge in blindly because in the beginning every monster will just brush off your attacks and go through with its own. Stay back, observe its movements, every attack has a "tell", a windup before it begins or something else. Just like you though, certain attacks leave monsters vulnerable after they do it, aim for these moments. Don't go for ranged weapons yet, too hard for beginners.
Switch Axe is a literal weapon of destruction in that you can do burst damage by staying in sword mode, try to always be in that mode, rolling will suffice for the lack of mobility.
Use X,X,R to quickly switch back to axe mode when low on phial energy and back off a bit to replenish it again with R. After that forward+X,R to combo into sword mode again. Qurupeco's only attack you should really be afraid off is its power dash that might also end in attacking with its beak. Its fire attacks can easily be rolled out of while still staying close to it to attack.Lastly, find friends to play with. I also didn't like the series at 1st, co-op made me think otherwise.

I've had great experiences with the MH community too. I checked out /mhg/ to see if anyone wanted to try some low-rank missions, and by that point everyone else was at g rank with crazy equipment. Within a minute or two I had people offering to join me using some beginner armor/weapons so it was balanced, and we had fun killing Kechas and Tetsucabras even though they could've killed it solo in seconds if they wanted to and it was comparatively slow and boring for them. They're genuinely just happy to help and sincerely congratulate you for killing something smaller like your first Quro.

It's not that. The quests in the original game had branching endings, one good, one bad, and one neutral. Even side quests did this. Depending on how you finished a quest, characters could completely change, bad guys could become good, and some characters could even die.
That was all removed in the localization. Now you only have the neutral ending. Maybe it was so nobody got their feelings hurt during the bad endings, or maybe they didn't want to translate all that extra text. Either way, I'm not buying the game.

Actually, judging that you remember hunting Qurupeco as your first big monster and not Jaggi, you might have actually hunted the guild hall one, which is tuned for multiplayer.

You underestimate how bad some people are at videogame, mate. My girl doesn't want to hear anything about builds and synergies and the like. She wants to use whatever she likes and still feel OP. Also the only weapon I had that wasn't starting equips was some fancy bagpipe that was silver and red (Also I had some better bowgun ammo but bowgun was hard to use). Honestly I haven't played in a while, I put it down after the 15 hours and played through EO4 at the time. I still love the monster design in these games but man, I can't get the hang of it.

Yes, it's excellent, and provides a hard challenge. Don't expect a BD game because of the art though, it has next to no story (almost all of it being told through skill items you find). The game also doesn't hold your hand at all and is incredibly difficult so you might find it disorienting, but I really loved it. The battle system is one of the best parts as well. Japan got bravely default: for the sequel, an upgraded version of the first one, which is the same one we got in the US.
There's also a browser game called Praying Braige but it's not available here.
The order isn't hard to understand Bravely Default is the first one, and the sequel litterally has SECOND in the title.

I haven't finished Second yet, but the job system resembles FF5's. You can also stock turns in battle while defending and then use more than 1 turn at a time.
The first game isn't that long (around 30 hours), but chapter 5 to 8 is shit tier because you basically repeat the same chapter FOUR times. at least you can skip random battles.

Actually was happened was that there's 4 endings.
Two half assed endings from the first time you side with someone and two full versions from when you pick the person twice.
Square just gives you the full ending from start. The real issue with the localisation is the lets add a hat and remove the markings on the Tomahawk class. Along with them removing nearly all of the cleavage from Magnolia's outfits.
