Okay, /v/. I'm from Australia, and I recently imported from the US for the first time. However, the games look all jagged and weird which is really shitting me.

How do I fix this? I have a 4k resolution TV, but it's only a cheap Kogan model. Is there something obvious I'm missing?
>>
Try to turn your TV upside down.
>>
>>337908037
forehead too big in this fan-art.

Also does AUS use NTSC? or PAL like Europe?
>>
>>337908037
which system? games? maybe post a picture of it?
>>
>>337908206
PAL.

>>337908271
Playstation 3

Games are Trails of Cold Steel and Tales of Symphonia Chronicles. Nothing to take a picture with unfortunately. I'm thinking it has something to do with the traditional PAL 50hz refresh rate, but my TV should theoretically support 60hz no problem (it quite literally says so on the box) so I have no clue what's going on.
>>
>>337908392
There's your problem then m8. You have to use an NTSC tv for american games. PAL for Euro games.
>>
>>337908392
Make sure all resolution options are checked on the system settings.

Why the fuck would you buy a kogan 4k set?
>>
>>337908459
They shouldn't matter with HDTV, hell my 20 year old CRT can handle NTSC

>fan-art

I'm pretty sure that's actually Takeuchi. It could be, anyway. He's pretty terrible when it comes to anatomy.
>>
>>337908392
Another Australian here. I actually imported Trails of Cold Steel from the US too, but I haven't been having any problems, so I assume it's either your Ps3 or your TV.

>>337908459
No, you don't. 50z and 60z issues only occur pre HD games, and even then most PS2 games allow you to choose your setting if you have a 60z compatible TV.

My very old and very shit TV finally died, so I had to scramble to get something cheap.

What would you recommend? I'm going to start saving for something actually decent.

I can play the game fine, but it's just the smallest little jagged pixels around each and every model in the game that's irritating me. Even the 2D stuff.

Imported anime stuff has the same problem too it seems, so it's probably the TV.

Can you show us an example, like take a screenshot? I'm curious as to what you mean? My Ps3's hard drive seems to be failing and Cold Steel literally runs at about 10 fps with 10 minute loading times because of it, but I don't seem to be getting jaggies.
>>
>>337908681
Depends on your budget, but can't go wrong with the usual Samsung, Sony Panasonic options. I'm hoping oled will be good.
>>
>>337908783
Sounds like it might be an issue with the TVs sharpening setting. Try turning it to 0
>>
>>337908392
hdmi is the standard with ps3, so ntsc or pal arent involved
>>
>>337908903
My PS3 isn't online, sorry. I recently moved out and I'm using a crappy Telstra prepaid net dongle for internet. What kind of TV do you have?

>>337909079
I'll try this and report back.

I'm not expert but isn't it kinda stupid trying to play 720p games on a 2160p tv?
I mean if you set your resolution to 640*480 on a 1080p screen shit gets fucked up too.
>>
>>337908783
try to stretch 480p/560p/720p output (ie most used ps3 res) on 4k and it'll look like shit
>>
>>337909386
I've actually played Cold Steel specifically on two different TVs, an old Dick Smith one and a fairly new Sony one. No problems on either, graphics-wise.
>>
TV's fukt, buy a new one

Okay everyone, gather around.

Turns out it was the sharpness after all. Turning it to zero resolved the problem no worries. Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my stupid questions. As small recompense, cute 2hus to you.

I fucking knew it, cheap TVs have terrible sharpening filters. Leave that shit off anon.
