Spyro the Dragon's art and music alone make it one of the best games for ps1. The series got worse in the next two installments, and then took a nose-dive.
Xcom 2 and unmodded Xcom1 are terrible, but the Long War mod is pretty much a different game.

I always see this game praised highly and FFTA talked down upon. Having only played the latter and enjoying it, what was wrong with it and what made the original so much better?
