I can't stop buying video games. Even though I only play for about 5-10 hours per week, I keep collecting every worthwhile game I can find for all platforms. Does anyone else compulsively shop like this?
How much money do you have???

Ugh. I mean I'm kinda wish I had a problem like that. Since i'm basically on the verge of becoming homeless. But yeah, do you even play most of them?
If you don't i'd say then just pirate them and see if it "substitutes" your need to actually buy them.

i can afford it i just feel stupid buying some games that i know i'll never get around to playing

sorry about your situation, but to answer your question, i try to play as many as i can. i dont have time or motivation to play for more than a about 10 hours per week though.
I got to that point before I just sold off everything. All I have now is a shit gaming laptop that I use only for WoW when I get the itch and besides that, gaming is dead to me. It's just no longer fun

I have this obsession too where I keep buying games even though I won't get to play (let alone finish) them all. It comes and it goes with me but I just play whatever I can or whatever interests me and takes breaks to avoid getting burnt out.
I feel like I should just try and power through them all but instead I spent more actual time looking up/shopping for games I hear about than playing anything, hell I should stop spending time here but there's not many people I can discuss video games with.

although I shop because some games are too rare too let it slip like old PC games
I got Half-life before steam, Battlefront 2 and Thief
a live in a very small city so it's hard to get physical copies

Do you have the feeling that your playing vidya is more of a "task" than actual enjoyment?
I did the same with PS3 games. I kept buying a bunch of old ones /v/ raves about but they sat on my shelf for months without being touched. I kept MGR and sold the rest to buy Doomon the PS4
No regrets tbqh

theres a huge difference between wanting a large vidya collection and having a shopping addiction. which side of the spectrum do you think you're on? do you get the pleasure from the collection as a whole or the transaction, since clearly its not from the games

I have this issue. I spend most of my paychecks on games after bills/groceries are taken care of.
This morning, I bought Valkyrie Profile for $132. I want to die.
It's the same as people buying shit knicknacks for their house, or buying a new tv every few months or whatever. You get more of an endorphin rush from buying and spending money than actually doing shit with it. Lots of people have this problem. Consumerism fills the void
