I would say cut your losses and stop playing now. But as for actual advice? There really isn't anything you need to know. You can solo your way to level cap now in a couple of days. End game is only raiding or PVP, neither of which are terribly fun now since there is no new content until the expansion hits.
Your class is probably even easier to play now than it was in WotLK since they keep stripping out skills.

They're being held back by an engine which is basically a frankenstein of Warcraft 3. They just need to start fresh, there's going to come a point when the game looks so dated that people won't be able to apologise for it any more. That day is probably coming in the next few years. It's kind of amazing to go and play FFXIV immediately after playing WoW. It's kind of like getting glasses and suddenly seeing the world clearly for the first time. Graphics definitely aren't everything, but there's a lower limit which WoW is in danger of hitting.

Fire is already playable in WoD, it's the second best DPS spec in HFC and was the best in BRF. The best in half the fights. Legion Fire isn't Fire at all. Living Bomb has a cooldown and can't be spread manually, ignite was nerfed to shit and can't be spread manually, Combustion was nerfed to shit, Pyroblast barely does twice the damage of a Fireball (compared to now where it does around 400% once you account for the DoTs), phoenix Flame is just instant fireballs, Glyph of Ignite is gone, so Fire hasn't even got a slow outside of Blast Wave.
Legion fire is awful.
