So I was recently so desperate for a monster-raising game I picked up Neopets again. It's aged really badly and I'm not happy.
What good monster-raising games are out there, /v/?
I've played every Pokemon and Youkai Watch seems a bit narrow for me; I like open games with less intrusive story.

This is one of the hidden gems of the ds. It's not flawless, rips pokemon off a lot, and I would love to see an improved followup (it'll never happen), but it has an interesting take on raising monsters, the gameplay is fun and has an addictive breeding system.
