Should I nab the founders edition or wait for an AIB?
>>
Never buy reference first batches
>>
get EVGA senpai
>>
>>337797615
Thing is everyone's gonna wait for the AIBs since they're cheaper and availability will be good on the reference cards since they launch earlier. The negative side is that they probably won't overclock as high as the AIB cards since they can modify the power connectors and bin their cards.
>>
>>337797573
Founders Edition is just Nvidia's new word for Reference cards.

You can buy it IF you don't care about
>Power consumption
>Cooling
>Overclocking
>Getting most out of your $

When the other manufactures get their hand on the card, you'll get stronger better designed cards for a better price.

I always go for MSI or EVGA, they tend to be best. To be frank, I do not believe we are going to see these cards as cheap as they are advertising. When Skylake intel CPUs came out they were being marked up over 30%. I foresee the same shit happening during initial batches.
>>
Get the founders edition.
>>
>buying first batch of a new gpu

lol
retard
>>
Zotac have already been fiddling with the 1080 & overclocking it
>>
>>337799007
Had an msi Twin Frozer 580ti, fucking bearings went on the fans because they cheaped out, cunt sounded like a giant mosquito in a teacup.
Turns out it was a common problem. msi no bueno.
>>
>>337797573
>>337798684
Generally if you're watercooling you buy reference because most blocks are based on the reference board design.
>>
>>337804463
Watercooling the reference 1080 isn't very useful. The single power connector limits its OC potential. 3rd party cards will OC higher

Sorry but it's EVGA, GIGABYTE, ASUS that are the tip top of quality
>>
Can someone tell me the differences between the 1070 and the 1080

I'm planning on getting the 1070 since it's $400 cheaper but I hear people saying it's not worth getting the 1070
>>
>>337805191

The MSI graphics hardware is really good, fuck all else.
>>
>>337799007
EVGA for usually the best performance and MSI is the most silent and cool choise.
>>
>>337799007
Cuck
>>
>>337797824

Haven't followed a card'a launch before. How long do they take to come out after reference?
>>
>>337805191
It doesn't matter that he did this as long as it is non-conductive. It is a waste but doesn't matter.
>>
The founders edition is essentially the reference cooler design, it will be available through the life of the card unlike previous reference models.

EVGA for best customer service.

GIGABYTE for best performance.

Why does amd/ati always outperform in benchmarks but underperforming in actual vidya?
>>
>>337798259
Reference ones are the ones that cost LESS than after market since the OEM need to RND a cooler and in some cases redesign the PCB
>>
>>337810650

AMD/ATI is fucking awful at optimization and their software is always shit. I used to run solely AMD/ATI hardware for the longest time and suffered crashes and weird shit. I finally swapped to an Nvidia card and despite the absolutely retarded programs you have to install, they at least work. Also, it's undeniable intel processors are better.
>>
>>337810650
if you turn down the tessellation amd cards perform better in games
>>
>>337810650
AMD gives you significantly more powerful hardware but their software optimization is garbage.
>>337810838
The reference models are $100 more as claimed by Nvidia to avoid competing with their AIB partners. Companies like Gigabyte and Zotac are releasing reference cards but I don't know if the price will be the same as Nvidia's reference cards or cheaper as it's not directly from Nvidia themselves.
>>
>>337805368
No one knows the core count yet, but people think it's going to be bigger than the difference between the 970 and 980.
>>
>>337810974
At the expense of occasional graphical glitches. Kepler owners like myself are the ones who got fucked badly on gameworks titles because they are made for Maxwell and AMD allowed users to lower tesselation whereas Kepler owners get nothing.
>>
>>337810650
I'm not too sure, but I know that AMD cards were always used for bitcoin mining and not Nvidia cards, so maybe it's something to do with Nvidia's focus on tessellation which gives AMD the edge in benchmarks and mining?
>>
>>337811248
Wait Nvidia users can't change tessellation levels in their driver software?
>>
>>337810650
nvidia bribes companies to perform better in games for example crisis which used to run tessellation for water under land just to fuck up amd. But in the future if you play mainly games that were made to be run on consoles ie ea or ubisoft games u will get better performance due to optimizations for xbox/ps hardware which is amd
>>
>>337811432
Nope.
>>
>>337810875
Yeah but in the future especially with direct x 12 games or Vulcan ones optimization will get better as its the devs. who will be in charge of hardware optimizations and seeing as a majority share in the games market is xbox/pc which runs amd hardware - performance will improve

>>

this
>>337797824
this is also safe
>>337801156
dont do this
>>337803506
this has potential to be really good
>>337804463
>>337804836
if op has to ask about reference cards, he shouldnt be watercooling
>>
>>337811727
>if you play mainly games that were made to be run on consoles

So 99% of games that aren't indie shit that would run on toasters anyway?
>>
>>337811727
You sound like a crazy person. Are you a crazy person?
>>
After dealing with irritating hissing when games go full speed sans vsync on my 970, I'm waiting until units are in actual people's hands until I get a 1070 or AMD equivalent
>>
>>337810650
Because the post you quoted features an openCL benchmark. Nvidia doesn't care about compute performance in their gaming cards.

I have a 770 and want to upgrade, but not spend $600 on one component. Is 1070 going to be a meme card?

welp. amd being shit at opengl isn't an excuse. this should never be an issue for one of the leading gpu producers.

disgusting 2bh
>>
>>337816881
1070 is a good upgrade. 770 is practically a shit card due to gameworks.
>>
>>337817878

I guess I'd feel the same If I felt strongly about gameworks. Only thing that really caught my eye was was the hair in Witcher 3 but its not stunning enough to compel me to upgrade.
