I'd rather take a game with simple rules that interact well and lead to dynamic and emergent game play than a game with a bunch of rules that don't really interact in meaningful ways or are degenerate in the sense that certain rules overshadow others to the point where they might as well not exist.

Let me give you an example of a game I would consider complex, but not autistic, so that this is more clear.
I would consider Street Fighter 4 to be complex. However, you don't need a 10-15 hour tutorial on street fighter 4 before you can have fun, therefore street fighter 4 is not autistic.
Grand strategies are 99% of the time autistic and you cant even have fun until you know literally everything about the game.
