Only if I'm in the same room as the person playing, so it would either be me showing someone a game, teaching someone a game, someone showing me a game, or I'm sitting out a game or match because there are more people wanting to play than there are controllers inputs available.
The exception to the rule are fighting game tournaments since I can learn a lot from seeing people handle different situations and how they use a character's toolkit. It helps to see it done in a live environment since it doesn't rely on showing off bread and butter combos performed in training mode like a lot of Youtube videos do.

Video games as a medium is very unique because of the interactiveness you can't find in any other medium. When you read a book, the point is not the flipping the pages and paper sounds, but the story written in the pages. You get the intended experience if you listen to it in audio or watch the movie based on the book.
With video games this is not the case. When you watch someone else play the game you're just watching a mediocre animated movie and you completely miss out from the interactivity.

It happened again with Ace Attorney when he started talking about Godot with me, but only received all of the information from a wiki article and didn't even play the game he was in, let alone any Ace Attorney game.

If I decide to watch omeone stream anything else, be it single player or multiplayer, it better be a game I already played. There is NO reason to watch someone play a game you haven't played, at all. I've watched playthroughs of games like TLoU and Firewatch, mainly to know what the fuck it is and why is it so much talked about. I'd say I didn't miss out on anything by just watching a playthrough instead of actually trying to play them.

Im a moderator of a partnered streamer who is around rank 80 in the game he plays, pulls around 200-600 viewers. I mainly watch it not for the fact hes good, but because hes a nice person to talk to, played a few games with him and hes a top lad.

grew up watching my brother play, most of the time because he was bigger than me and could wrestle the controller away.

went through a phase where i just wanted to go to relative's houses to play their games, nowadays i like watching friends and family play vidya. except for my brother who just plays MMOs.
playing the telltale's walking dead while my mother watched and made the decisions was the closest i ever got to playing vidya with my mother, which is sad because she thought i was watching a film. but it was very enjoyable, i really envy people that have parents who enjoy the same kind of entertainment.

I think Let's Plays might be worth it if you like the aesthetics or story but don't enjoy the gameplay. Instead of forcing yourself to play through a game just watch the story on Youtube.
