People were making the case that a lot of protagonists in games were Mary Sues. Someone was trying to argue that Ratchet from R&C was a Gary Stu as well. And that's wrong for the same reason that Sora isn't a Gary Stu.
By themselves, they aren't very strong. Ratchet with just his wrench and without Clank is pretty shitty. But sure, give him a Harbinger and he'll fuck up everything.
Sora's the same way. And generally, the plot is written that Sora needs Donald and Goofy to back his dumb ass up when he gets shit on anyway. If anything, Sora is just an annoying bullshit anime character like most Tales Of protagonists.
