Vincent was just being cheeky. However, there is a passing mention in the book of Lost Memories that maybe some of the monsters were members of the cult, but it's hard to tell if that was ever meant to be taken seriously or just the team teasing readers.

Actually, it might have been two days. It was going on evening when the game begins, and then when you reach Silent Hill, it's about the same time. Of course, they have never really said how time flows when shit is really fucked up, though one can assume when everything turns rusty, time isn't moving that much differently.

SH3 was probably my favorite to be honest. Really fond of its specific atmosphere.
