My brother has the same problem. He likes a lot of sonic games and the series but he cant actually play them that well because it moves to fast for him. He likes watching me do the sonic stuff really fast and actually enjoys the alternate gameplays, like treasure hunting, shooting, and brawling. Its an interesting case
The only time Ive ever had a problem with sonic teams innovations was with Shadow, Sonic 06, and Lost World.
Heroes moves along at a good pace, balancing floaty platforming with sonic and tails with action with knuckles, with some cool scripted loops/sequences here and there. There are some levels that are extremely fast moving and the loops go at hyper speed, but most of the game is pretty tame. If heroes is to fast for you, then yeah you pretty much have no hope. Maybe a sonic adventure game might do the trick if you want another one. Stay away from sonic unleashed and sonic generations though. Sonic unleashed is the fastest game in the series and generations is slower but still very fast

Something about sonic advance 3s music was just so mesmerizing and memorable...I cant get over how charming it is, all of them are, the sprites, levels, everything. But advance 3 is really something else
