Can we finally agree that Civ IV is better than Civ V?
Huh
I thought we had all agreed on that
>Can we finally agree t
>finally
Oh look, its this thread again.
>finally
That's literally been the consensus across the entire world since V was released.
>>337733862
No one thinks IV is better than V anymore.
We can all agree that VI will be better than V simply because it includes religions and all the other shit that should be in the base game instead of gutting it to sell shit as expansions later, right?
>>337735729
/v/ will never claim Civ VI can be good because the art design will give them endless trolling fuel. Even 5 years after its out, people will be mocking it.
>>337733862
It does some things better. 5 was my first though so I think I'll always prefer it.
>>337735502
Why can't we have unit stacks AND hexes?
It is though. 1UPT doesn't belong in a strategy game. Leave that in the tactical RPGs
>>337736204
This.

Civ 4 fan here. Please don't hurt our cause by supporting us. I see you in literally every Civ thread and have concluded you're a parasite on the rest of us.
>>337733862
I don't think Firaxis can really do anything to make a future Civ game better than Civ 4 with mods. From essentially a fan-made expansion of Rise of Mankind: A New Dawn to a total conversion like Fall from Heaven. They offer so many new systems and tweaks that the base game just can't offer much in comparison after a few playthroughts. If only the API wasn't gimped in 5... Though, looking at what Firaxis did with XCOM 2, I guess there's still some hope.

The bottom two are much better than the top two. Mostly because of improved UI and interface. You can obsess over Civ IV or Alpha Centauri all you want, but Civ V was a major improvement on the design and UI of the game. Which has allowed a lot more people to get into Civilization.
But I know you're just gonna claim that graphical limitations make a game better because it 'keeps our the casuals'. Yeah, good luck with that.
Both are great games, I play Civilization V a lot more so I think I like it more.
>>337737559
The dev teams for XCOM and Civilization are completely separate, so I wouldn't hope for any significant improvements with mod support
>>337738159
They could still take some queues from XC2 though
>>337738406
You mean cues.
>>337736204
Stacks of death are braindead and too effective.
Well, I can tell you that Vanilla Civ 5 is utter shit thats for sure.
>>337733862
4 is ugly and has terrible interfaces and readability.
There are people that actually think IV is superior to V?
>"the CBP and mods fix Civ 5, just try it!"
>play on Prince
>AI is building 1-2 wonders a turn in renaissance era
>a single barbarian conquers a city-state when he isn't even in its territory because of an arbitrary timer
>tfw keep getting dogpiled by AIs (their excuse being that I'm "bloodthirsty" because I keep beating them when they attack me) while the japs build their empire without competition on another island
>>337736714
It amazes me how everything Firaxis makes gets worse and worse
>>337733862
Civ 4's hard learning curve is apparent from the moment you start the game
Civ 5's hard learning curve is hidden from you but no less real
Both are bad in their genre and bad on their own methods
Civ 5 is worse
>>337741464
forget gandhi
forget shaka; the huns or the aztecs
Oda Nobunaga is the single most bloodthirsty motherfucker in the game
He will build an army to attack you every single game he shares a border with you and no amount of diplomacy will stop him backstabbing you at an inopportune moment
>>337740896
Yes. People with taste
>>337741045
What's the problem? Are you mad that the AI actually works now?
>>337733862
this was never discussed, it was obvious from the first day.
>>337742756
I guess it fits him better than it fit Gandhi. But yeah he always absolutely destroys the other civs in war. In this game he was taking 2-3 cities at the same time whenever there was a war going on and had eliminated 2 civs before we got to AD. By the time I could even reach his island it was already too late, now he has nukes and has completed the Apollo program and all that while I barely have electronics. Feels bad man.
>>337742756
Spain, Rome, Zulu and Greece have the highest numbers for wanting to attack. You just got unlucky with Japan, but he's only like a 7.
