Which button would you press?
>>337725249
Source code
Of course the red.
You can use quickBMS or other tools to extract assets from games.
>>337725249
left, right is only good for porn not vidya
are you a retard?
Source code.
I can't see any point in the blue button
Cure cancer, easily.
World hunger only effects over populated third world shitholes, not anybody that actually contributes to global progress.
Source code, since you can rip the assets later.
>>337725525
But the assets would also become free for use even if you wanted to sell stuff using them.
>>337725249
Red everytime
What's the point of getting the source code however, the assets are way more important.
Who the fuck would pick blue? I don't think OP thought this question through very much.
Red would probably destroy the entire industry as publishers could in no way combat the unleashed creative energy of actual people who aren't out of touch with the medium.
Sounds nice.
>>337725249
your mom's button haha
>>337725249
Red I guess
I mean can't you rip assets from games easily anyway, or make better ones yourself?
>>337726667
>or make better ones yourself?
Better than professional assets? Certainly not.
>>337726863
Never played a Bethesda game I see
>>337726863
They are professional because they were made quickly in acceptable quality
>>337726951
Anon, I can barely drawn stick figures.
>>337725249
Red: mods and indie games for years to come
Blue: fanfics and shirty art forever
assets are only good for sfm
>>337727057
Ok, so that part isn't for you but assets aren't a problem to make
>>337725249
Source code
>>337725249
red is the only reasonable option
>>337725249
The button that finally make me happy.
Pressing the red button would ultimately lead to the blue one, wouldn't it?
>>337725249
Blue. There are a shitton of competent coders out there and a Free Software mentality exists, i.e. it's normal that code is written under open source licenses. Assets (art, textures and so on and so forth) not so much. It would be easier and less problematic legally to recreate games if you have the assets than if you have the code.

also, the code for a decently looking game is less complicated (idtech3 from 1999, which is under GPL, is good enough for 90% of projects, especially if these projects have all assets ever made to use it with) plus it's more than abundant in available high quality forms, UE4 and other engines being open source and whatnot.
